I think I got my measurements a bit wrong when I scratchbuilt Da Gob ov Bork!

Please don't ask when this will see some paint.
Big thanks to Tepok for running the komp and good luck to all the other kompetitors.
All C&C appreciated.

Soooooo superb! I'll really be reviewing your built for when I make combinations of front ramp+Def-rolla!

That turret is win.
Seriously though, only an ork would stack turret on top of each other, and the mini turrets just look awesome.

Top notch, Gaf Naz! I am dying to know what you used to make that killy looking deff rolla! Are those bitz in the chemical plant set? I have one I haven't opened yet.
Sorry, I have nothing critical to say, I am just gushing over this build. The turret on top of turret, the paint lid turrets, the drop ramp, its all looking really good. And as crazy as it sounds, I want to hug the Gob uv Bork, such a beautiful tank!

You can get them all over the place,
here's the link to what I think is the manufacturers website. They pop up on eBay frequently.
Enough OT talk, that's a nice and proppa build! And da Gob uv Gork is proppa sized too. Just moreso.

The rokkits are ace already, what else are you planning to do to them?

This thing is sweet. I really like the way that you worked that chemplant in there. Also those supa missles are great. I'm not to sure about that tiny deth rolla though.
The rest is inspired as always with your stuff. It's cool to see it next to the Gob ov Bork! Good job.

I think GW got their measurements wrong.

I never thought I'd say, "The new Baneblades look weedy." Well, the new Baneblades look weedy.
This thing is just wrong in so many good Orky ways.
I also love the turret on turret design.

For an Ork, that would just make enough sense for it to work.
Yes, where are the deathrolla bitz from?

Feb 17 2008, 06:17 PM
Cheers for the komments guys.
clayton - I got the chem plant from this
shop. Not sure where you're from but these kits seem to be available at most decent online model shops.
Ug Thok / Noze - the spiky bits on the deff-rolla are from the chem plant kit. They're some sort of connector piece. I used one where the barrel of the main kannon meets the turret too. Nice useful bits.
DocNuk - the rokkits are very big, especially as they're basically a re-rollable krak missile - for some reason I thought that Supa Rokkits were like Grot Bombs, but didn't check their stats in the book until I'd built them.
I guess the rokkit's engines could be fired-up, but not launched, to give the tank a turbo-boost.
Metaphorozine - the rokkits will get some smaller fins, random plating, rivets and possibly small cockpit windows. Am going to investigate the local model airplane shop and see what they've got that may work.
Noze - I'd heard that the new GW plastic baneblade is 1" bigger all round than the FW resin one. I guess the stormblade Mek Wing-Nutz looted for Da Gob was built by giants.

Love it, its an absolute beast, watching this have convinced me that I really need to make me a skullhammer ^^
Love the rokkits, very proppa! and the ramp with the arrow is nice, always good to let the boys know which way to charge in case they get confused!
A bit of a shame that you had to make a mini-rolla instead of a proppa big one, but I can see the dilemma with the ramp, all in all, jobz a gud 'un!

Awesome!
I like how the 'ead feels like the mek knows he wants this to evolve into a Banebot and eventually a stompa or even gargant. I have 1 of those Megagargants left (traded the other 2 a while back) and yours just feels like it's right. The gob uv gork is speshul... dat's why it's bigger

I'd love to see all yer stuff on the table together... your builds are usually top notch and this one's no exception!

And if we had similar ideas (them stuff seem to be floating around), your skullhamma is neater than mine... I especially dig the turret.

Feb 20 2008, 01:03 AM
Damn, there is so much to like about this model. I think the turrets are the best feature, and the way they're stacked up is 100% proppa. I also like the way you've done the rokkits, although they look unfinished - they're big enough to have Grot pilots, so I would have included them, or at least somewhere for the pilots to go (although I note that you intend to add more detail). I also like the big boiler on the back; it's become a fairly common feature on Ork conversions now, but it definitely looks the part. The deffrolla is weedy, but that doesn't matter - it just looks like stuff that's been added to the front. I guess my only real criticism is that, like a lot of Skullhammas, it doesn't look at all like a Fast vehicle, but it's very hard to make something this big look speedy.
On a personal note, I'm finding it very hard to match the level of inventiveness that you guys are displaying in this kontest. There was a time when my Ork vehicle conversions were reasonably well received, but I'm increasingly finding that my tendency to stick to things that are based on historical tanks is leading to rather humdrum designs. Meanwhile, many of you are prepared to take risks with your designs, leading to much more interesting and genuinely Orky models. My Skullhamma isn't ready to put up here, and even if it was I don't think it comes close to creations like this or DokNuK's (I'm still looking at the other entries in the kontest).

I don't really like the turrets stacked on top of each other. I can just imagine it being in the krew kompartment at the front, and the front ramp opens, revealing the kannon!

hi, great build especially the turrets they work really well the ramp looks great too, the views from the front and side show the amount of extreme orkyness and thought that has gone into the design and the level of detail is fantastic , this model is definitely in the aspirational category, i really want to build a skullhammer now after seeing the entries in this contest, thanks, big thumbs up

great work, please paint the head GREEN!
ok, il be more realistic, please PAINT IT!
oh, and if it isn't already, i think the middle name of your mek should be "darlic"

i think the turrets would look better if they had the "tile" effect like those on your other baneblade.
good job!

fantastic build. but one question -- I notice a lot of arrows on orc ramps - "go dis way"?
Gaf-Naz
Feb 25 2008, 12:43 AM
Thanks for the feedback guys.
4ton - spot on about Mek Wing-Nutz wanting to build a gargant, he keeps pestering me.
generalmalaise - the arrows (Waz glyph) are a reminder to the boyz of which direction to charge, as well as to charge fast.
Oddballz - I considered visible grot pilots, then glazed cockpits, but I took the easy option and added a rivetted shut entry hatch - to make sure there's no last minute second thoughts.

Making it fast looking was a big issue for me during the build. The usual option of big engine, big exhausts and paint it red doesn't really work for a superheavy.
Also Oddballz - I think you should post some WIP shots of your work and get some feedback, support and ideas. I know I'm not alone in drooling over your builds in the past and I now always include some bits of wood and alot of stowage on my vehicles due to looting inspiration from you.
I've detailed the supa rokkits. Added access hatches, control gubbinz and plenty of rivets.

Each rokkit has a cable leading to the new "miss-un kontrol" panel.

I'm going to sit and look at this whilst I build some 'ard boyz over the next few weeks as I keep seeing little bits I can gubbinize/rivet. I may then consider paint.
All C&C appreciated.

I love the fact that you've wired the grot bombz back to the control panel. It's the little things that count.

Allowing a project to sit for a week (or more) before priming is always a good idea. As much as I can't wait to see this painted. I have to agree with you on that.

Miss-un Kontrol is now fully

Build – 63/65
I love this tank, the detail is amazing, especially on the turret, and the front ramp, the weathering and battle damage are really nicely done, everything looks orky without looking rickety. Then there are the details inside the transport part of the tank, which add a lot of character and prevent making it look plain. The pcard work is excelent as usual.
In fact, I like everything about this build, apart from one or two minor bits.
The rokkits, but you know about that. The deff rolla, I think it looks too weedy

Thread - 28 / 30
Lots and lots of explanations which really help. No tutorial pictures, but you explained how you made the cool bits such as the turrets really well, and managed to do so without pictures... so I guess that made up for the lack of them.
Bonus Points (e.g. fluff, genius ideas) – 3/5
Altho you didn't do anything really crazy, I liked the use of bits for the turrets, which I'll end up looting someday.
Total: 94/100
Thanks for taking part

The overworked painting grots blow away another layer of dust.....
Got bored painting fiddly bits on my trukks so I primed and started basecoating my Skullhamma:

1 coat of Averland Sunset, then decals. Supa-rokkits basecoated:

Going to add some flames/cheques to the rokkits. Will try to freehand some faces on their nosecones too.
Then it's sponge weathering time.

Yellow all weathered - sponged with Rotting Flesh, Dark Flesh and Boltgun Metal, then washed with Seraphim Sepia.
Started basecoating all the stowage and other fiddly bitz.

Given up on my attempts at freehanding flames/shark's teeth on the rokkits. Going to look for some decals to use instead.
All C&C appreciated.

I don't think you should give up on those free hand flames just yet. Personally I find it quite fun to do once you get the hang on it. Simply start where the flames tip is supposed to be. At this point only the tip of the brush should touch the model and then when you progress you push down the brush more to make the flame become wider. To be honest one doesn't even need a steady hand to do this as you are supposed to move the brush a bit to the left and right while you paint to get those nice curvy flames.
Mad Mek Snowfyre
May 17 2012, 04:39 AM
nice you did the weathered look well.
free hand flames are pretty easy... just need to be gentle with your brush... and use a newish one preferably.

Cheers for the tips on the flames guys.
It's been hotter and sweatier than a Goff's armpit (

) the last few days so I've not felt like painting much. Managed to get most of the fiddly bits done now though:

Added another spotta-grot to the turret hatch:

Underside all rusted and trakks painted:

Still to do:
- Paint the krew.
- Dull down some of the metalwork.
- Finish a few fiddly bits (wires, beast skull etc...).
- Weather the red areas (turret teef and supa-rokkits).
Hope to finish it this weekend as I've got my buggy kontest entry to paint next.
All C&C welcome.

Painting finished and added to the display cabinet:

Big Mek Wing-Nutz and his assistant inspecting the paintin' grotz work:

Spot-It (the aiming grot) has gone missing (presumed to have joined the revolution) so Sparkz is left in charge of "Missun-Kontrol":

I sponge-weathered the red paint with Charradon Granite, Adeptus Battlegrey and Boltgun Metal, and then washed with Devlan Mud.
3.5 days till I can get my hands on the new bommerz - think I'll sort out my bitz boxes and look for a model that needs a quick paintjob to tide me over till Saturday.
All C&C appreciated.
