Howdy all!

I'm getting back into the hobby and (slowly) building a new Ork army. My group is gearing up and our Guard player has made me Code Brown by showing me his list. It includes Pask, three Russ, two Earthshakers, 50 conscripts,  and a...Shadowsword.

My initial thought is the only hope I have is to drown him in a sea of green, but I really don't want to play that sort of list. Here is what I'm thinking right now and I'm wondering if anyone else has played any similar lists and has thoughts.

The thought is the boyz Da Jump on top of the tanks or infantry where possible, hopefully tying something of value up. I would like to drop the Shadowsword as quickly as possible with every armor killing weapon I own, while the Burna-bomma and Kommandos go for the artillery/heavy weapon teams.

Given the shadowsword I might avoid single expensive models such as the gorkanaut and instead include vaguelly tough small/fast units.  I know buggies and deffkoptas are not popular around here, but they can work as can small units of 3-5 Bikers.  50 conscripts are actually not a lot of screening troops so all you need to do is get through those to start charging his squish russes and manticores.

Alternatively, he will probably castle up.  Ignored his army and focus on the objectives.  What type of scenario are you playing?

He will be my usual opponent, so it will always vary. I'm pretty worried about the Gork/Mork for the reasons you stated, but I wanted to use it as a distraction purely for the Tankbustas, but some how I think neither of those ideas will work well.

What other weapons is he equipping the shadowsword with?  Is he going heavy bolter or flamer with the sponsons?

Flamers.

I figured as much, but that further reinforces my tendency to suggest an MSU style list full of middle toughness things.  Trukks & Boyz, Trukks & Tankbustas (small squads), single unit buggies or deffkoptas, etc.

Makes sense. I'm going to play around with that idea when I get home. Thanks!
