Having just ebayed myself an Ia8 and Imperial armour apoc (2013 ed).

My brain has been going through which rules are the most up to date for each unit.

So correct me if I'm wrong but let's have a bash at it.

Stompa (orks codex)
Big mek stompa (6th ed Apoc)
Klaw stompa (Ia8)
Kustom stompa (IA8)

Skullhammer battle fortress (6th ed apoc)
Kustom battle fortress (IA Apoc 2013)
Flakk battle fortress (IA Aeronautica)
Dethrolla battle fortress (IA 8)
Gargantuan squiggoth (6th ed apoc)
Kill krusha tank (IA apoc 2013)
Kill bursta (IA apoc 2013)
Kill blasta (IA apoc 2013)

Ork bommer (IA8 super heavy flyer)
Ork blasta bommer (IA8 super heavy flyer)

Books referenced
codex orks 7th ed (2014)
Apocalypse 6th ed (2013)
Imperial Armour 8 (2010)
Imperial Armour Aeronautica (2012)
Imperial Armour Apocalypse (2012)

I would just add a small note: I advocate gamers use both IA:8 and IA:Apocalypse for Big Squiggoths. The One in IA:8 is a bit weak and cheap, but that's perfect for custom small builds that are a kind of dino with a howda (like using Lizardmen/Seraphon dinos or toys). Whereas the IA:A Big Squiggoth is a tougher and more appropriate for a model that costs 80 quid.

Most recent mek stompa is in the last Apocalypse book and I believe the battlefortress is in the first Death From the Skys book along with the big trakk, flakka trukks and the FW aircraft.

Jack Which version of death from the skies? The 5th end one or are you on about an IA book?

Dim I'm akk for people using which rules they would like for their mini's I for one prefer the IA8 rules for the skullhammer to the Apoc rules, this post is merely to show which are the latest rules and where to find them.

5th ed death from the skies was for the Initial flyer release. From what I remember it only had flyers for each faction in it.

Forge worlds Imperial Armour Aeronautica has rules for flyers, flakk trukks, Flakk Battle fortress etc

You're right, I was thinking of Imperial Armour Aeronautica which is still newer than IA8

Your correct in that it is newer than Ia8
But the problem still remains that a lot of the IA8 stuff has not been updated since. There are a few that have been updated such as the killkrusha, blasta, bursts.

Is 8 is still the only place you can build custom stompa s though.

If there are any units you guys want a reference to and dont see it here feel free to post and I will edit the original post.

I am currently looking through various rule books to try and tie it together here, putting in the work so you dont have to!

I too have just got a copy of IA8 and wanted it purely for the custom stompa rules.

I figure with the amount of other low cost super heavies a cheap stompa may even the playing field.

People online such as Wiki say that the custom stompa is not valid anymore. But I has the book has not been updated so still stands.

Custom stompa 570 points

Base 350 points

Deth Arsenal 120 points

Gigashoota 75 points

Titan close combat weapon 25 points

Mharris I have had problems arguing with other gamers myself when it comes to rules.
Had a massive one about the green tide before the FaQ came out.

The problem we have to deal with is that the majority of Games workshop plauers have been spoon fed the dogma that only new books count, this is of course purely sales stimulus.

If people want to play in tournaments to check with the organisers before hand.
If your having problems outside of the tournament scene in regards to playing the likes of the Kustom stompa, I suggest you find more enlightened individuals to enjoy your games with.

I agree with you, I personally have never played a tournament. I have looked into doing it this year with my renegades and the organizers response was "Forge world is fine but only if the models have 40K approved rules, other words you cant use there 30k rules/lists."

I would be interested to see if they allowed a Kustom Stompa. Why not no one expects orks to do anything anyway!

Generally in the group I play in we are all very flexible. They would have no issues with it but always discussed first and if we deem it over powered we would calm it down. Over the summer we were doing games 2500 point games with 3 super heavies in each at one point. We now agree on list rules, normally Bound armies, then agree if we have super heavies, if so max amount etc. The same with fliers. This way it makes the games more fun and fair. We all have new models we want to use and helping each other accommodate them is all part of the fun.

If someone is being a dick about it then you laugh, go with it and hammer them next game so they are then asking to agree army list rules.
