Changed this thread from just tankbustas to include more oddboys, including kommandos, burnas, and lootas. I will put mini meks here too.
Spoiler Summary: Group shot of tankbustas
I have been conducting a big (annual) sort of my WH 40K stuff and this time has been a deep delve into getting all the bits for various projects together with the other elements of that project. Below is the current progress of my Tankbustas.
Above shows 4 units, each with a nob, 15 tankbustas, two tankhammas, and 3 bomb squids. I plan to up the number of bomb squigs for when I play Apoc battles and split these into smaller size units, riding in trukks and such. Some of the models are painted, and some need repair. They were organized into units of 10 before, which you can see in the basing for the 4 units. Now that tankbustas come in units of 15, unpainted metal minis got primed and added to the units. I currently have only one spare tankbusta and one spare bomb squig.
These are the 4 nobs. I had 3 tankbusta nobs like the one on the right, but I did not want to use the same model so much here, so I put the extras in my nob box and pulled nobs with different bodies for this. Note that the three left nobs are missing their entire left arms, and the one on the right is missing his hand. Not shown are magnetized options for PK, big choppa, and nothing (pistol). I will have many magnetized nob arms for this project, the biker (nobs), and other projects. This picture also shows off the 32mm bases I laser cut out of acrylic (sloppily) and the washers I super glued to the bottom of the bases for strength. I got to use a piece of free acrylic scrap which was covered with shallow incorrect cuts. (Woot, 200 bases in a couple hours while I read/responded to email.) Since I will put putty on the base, the mistakes will never be seen.
This is a close up of two of my old metal tankbustas. The tankbustas before the 2007 Ork Codex did not have rockets for each tankbusta, so I had to do something to get them looking like they all have rokkits. These two have electrical connectors, show in the bag to the right, and resistors used to simulate HEAT rokkits. For the alternate old model where one hand has a pistol and one hand has a tankbusta bomb, I just inserted a rokkit into the end of the pistol. I still plan to put rokkit backpacks and other bits to show them all more loaded with rockets and tankbusta bombs.
One key thing I need to also do is paint shoulder pads and/or rokkit modules to identify the different units, since I will probably paint over the bases that used to identify the units. (Since I don't have those three different putties that I smeared on the bases before.)
