So I have been trying to get back into playing Orks, had 2 games last week against my friend and usual opponent. I used unbound lists because I very much like my deffkoptas but don't like the mob rule. So fielding 15 deffkoptas as single units works out way better than 3 units of 5. I won a maelstrom of war mission thanks to the super mobility of the deffkoptas and then an altar of war mission "HERE I SHALL DIE" where i tabled him turn 6 after a very decisive first turn.

Now that you know a bit of what i've done so far with the army, here is what I would like from YOU mr.reader i want to try and build some strong competitive battle forged lists but ONLY using items in my current inventory. I can't stress that enough, ONLY using stuff i actually own. Not at all in any way shape or form interested in making further purchases/convertions or what not so please spare me that commentary.

I'm not too sure about where to start, so I will give you a list of my entire inventory and post some battle forged army lists for me to try out in my next games.
Combined Arms Detachment, Ork Horde Detachment, etc etc if it creates a battle forged list i'm all open to suggestion.

Here is what I have available:

4 Big Mek
3 Big Mek - Big Choppa
1 Big Mek - Shokk Attack Gun

Does your usual opponent go white scars, ultramarines, etc for his tactical doctrine?

Also, are any of your Warbosses on a Bike?

My opponent plays Iron Hands.

the lists i need are for 2000 pts

and i listed my entire inventory options are noted in the entry if its not written then assume the model is standard base equipment.

So the answer is nope, i have only basic warbikers on bikes.

I am thinking the Green Tide could be a good way to go for you.

Green Tide Formation:

Warboss w/PK and Big Boss Poll

10 units of 10 Boyz

5 Nobz w/PK

Combined Arms Detachment:

Painboy

Warboss w/PK and Lukky Stikk

15 Lootas

10 Boyz (no upgrades)

10 Boyz (no upgrades)

The above stuff would form the core of your army and is largely non-negotiable within your subset of models owned.  The next batch of stuff you can move around if you don't like.

Deffkoptas x5 w/Buzzsaw

Deffkoptas x5 w/Buzzsaw

Kommandos x15: Nob w/PK and Snikrot

With that list your biggest problem will be your opponents Thunderfire Cannon.  I gave both units of Deffkoptas a Buzzsaw so you could use them to charge the techmarine who mans it if you get the chance.  If not, you can use Snikrot's Kommandos to charge it.

So much for not being interested in more models! LOL!

2 squads of Tankbustas in Trukks is pretty good as long as you play with a reasonable amount of terrain. With all the str 6 shooting out there, Battlewagons have actually become a bit of a bother for some lists. Maybe throw some boyz in there with a painboy as another unit. Maybe some Lootaz in another Battlewagon. Maybe a squad of burnas in the Kill Bursta, making 3 of them into Meks for repairs.

Best thing to do is experiment. Trial and error is a great way to figure out what your play style works best with. It's not very forgiving in the early stages of testing, though. Be prepared to get messed up pretty bad.

I played a game recently with a squad of 10 tankbustas mounted on a killbursta (counts as an open-top vehicle for the purpose of transport only), it was totally insane and easily destroyed a Knight  with little damage in turn 3.
