I haveanother battle lined up today against the Beakies again. Here is hoping I get a good attack rating roll.
I could do with another planet, mind you the fact my home world counts as a hive world and the forge world I just captured means I have the repair points to fix most of my battle losses.

How we are playing the initial phases of the camapaign are as follows.
You can be the attacker in a scenario up to 3 times a week, if you win as an attacker you get a system of you choiseadjacent to your current systems. You caan defend as many times as you like a week.

This set up prevents one player from taking over the whole star chart by beating his mate all the time.
I presume in later phases of the campaign whe all systems are claimed you will then be able to take them off other players.

I think ill bring out my low leadership escorts and kroozers to the battle today in the hopes of a victory and a boost for the big battle against the chaos forces on sunday.

So quick update, played a few games last night against the Beakies. won one and lost two.

Over all my fleet did not suffer badly,I suffered a crippled escort squad which resulted in -1ld.

a couple of battles later I improoved the leadership of the ravagers and a terror ship.

I also managed to roll a dethdeala for reinforcements. which now has the grot targeting upgrade(left columb shift for gunner)

So all in all no more planets this week,I think my renown is up to 36 at this stage and my fleet roster is starting to exhaust my current mini collection so not too bad overall.

Perhaps this thread is a bit old, but I just have to say I'm a bit envious that you get to play a campaign.

Up here in the frozen north there is both a lack of players and most have kids and such taking much of their time.

 

But I have been playing a few games, and I just have to say, be happy that you don't have any Nid players! I would much rather face tin'eads than Nids, using their rules in the 2010 update errata and faq they are so broken the game is hardly playable. Last game I used a Chaos fleet, 1000 pts, and one squadron of 6 Krakens (210 pts) defeated my entire fleet (3 cruisers and 5 escorts), and I wasn't even rolling badly!

 

Are you done with the campaign yet btw? :)

Sorry about not gtting back sooner. Its week 5 of the campaign at this stage. I have not had much chance to play in week 4 or indeed this week. Iv done well with 43 renown and 5 planets under my control. most of my fleet roster consists of terror ships and squads of ravagers(torp escorts)

Arise my dead Thread,

 

Well the campaign end back in 2015 and sadly the group pretty much just sort of ran out of steam.

Im pretty sure one of the chaos fleet won the campaign from what I remember and I came close 2nd.

 

I played a game against my Scumgrod with his panzee fleet, it was a learning experience as I had never faced a full panzee fleet before.

 

It was the Scumgrods First ever run of the fleet so It was a learning experienve for him also, we played 1000pt cruiser clash.

I brought 5 terror ships with prow torps and 2 ravagers

He brought 8 escorts, 4 with those bloody lances and 4 with weapons batteries plus two cruisers. One of which was a gun boat with torps and the other had fighter transport capacity.

 

I did the usual deployed my cruisers together with the ravagers just a littl forward and to the right, I managed to get First turn, the sunward side was to my port and his starboard.

Fighting the panzee fleet was interesting, I dont think my scum grod used his movement to the best of its ability, I managed to do a lot of damage to the escort squads with my ordinance before using the prow weapon batteries on the Kroozers to plink away at his crusier ships.

It seems the holofields are good at keeping the fighter bombers at bay, but the amount I had knocking about on the Field of battle and My scumgrods ability to roll 1's meant I made short work of anything within range.

 

The panzee fighters reminded me of beakie Thunderhawk gunships, they had a pesky tendancey to stick around a lot longer than they should, sadly for him though I had weight of numbers.

 

The game ended up with his carrier cruiser hulked and the other crippled with only one of each escort type left from the initial 8.

I had 4 of my kill kroozers crippled and one of the ravagers still knocking about.

 

So tips for fighting panzee fleets

1 bring shed loads of fighter bombers and torps

2 Close the distance as soon as possible

3 Focus fire on one ship at a time, you might only get one die of gunnery but hitting them on 4 with not shields and crits on 4 they tend to break very wuickly and easily.

 

Ill update when I next have a fleet engagement, for now skarnis Blitz Boyz are jumping into the warp for hopefully more violent waters.

Nice. Thanks for the BatRep. The panzee boys are always difficult for uz greenskins. They have all the maneuverability that we lack and then some, so it can be tough to come to grips, near impossible to ram and just plain ridiculous to board. Swarming them with ordinance is our only real option, as you have discovered. An expert panzee player is a very scary thing.

I reckon my Scumgrod will be a force to reckon with once he gets a few more games under his belt with the panzee fleet.

as with their 40k counter parts there seems to be a level of finesse with panzee in General.

 

Im going to scrounge around for BFG players when I go back home in the new year, worse case scenario I have beakie,imperial and chaos fleets I can lend people for games and potential campaign mash ups.

 

I really want to tie BFG into a 40k campaign, having gotten my hands on a fan ruel set it might be a possability.

The battle of broken reach. Demiurg fleet with rogue trader element, fight a bitter battle against the hated Orks.

The elusive Demiurg had been guided to the rich asteroid field by Rogue Trader Von Hanmann.

By utter chance the Forward contigent of Waaagh Fleet Skarnir stumbled across the Demiurg while in the Initial phases of asteroid processing.

No quater was given during the battle.
Though they fought valiantly the demiurg were not to win the day.

Total losses during the battle
Ork fleet losses
2 terror ship kroozers
3 brute ram escorts
4 ravager escorts

Demiurg Fleet losses
Stronghold commerce vessel
4 cruisers (unknown class)
2 escorts (unknown class)

By the time the dust had settled from various ships reactors going super critical.ramming actions and boarding parties had dpne their work the orks held the asteroid field with 2 demiurgs hulked and the strong hold vessel boarded and captured.

Von Hanmann seeing the carnage wrought on the Bulk of the Demiurg fleet and fled with the remaining Demiurg escort.

 

 

Initial deployment

Asteroid fields can be observed to the port and starboard of both fleets.

This bottle neck effect forced close quater fighting, idela for Ork boarding action and Demirug cuttting beams.

As the battle rages on the Demiurg fleet is Forced to converge in the center, Their Initial deployment was most likely due to mining operations prior to the ork fleet Appearing. Remnants of the initial wave of fighter bombers and Torps can be seen in action.

Several of the Demiurg ships had Decided to concentrate fire on the incoming waves and drove streight into the ork torps regardless of the Potential damage

The turning point of the battle.

The Ork fleet has closed and knocked out one of the Demiurg cruisers, several of the ork terror ships were severely cripple from the Demiurg fire power. Unflinching with neither side willing to give the center ground the ork cruisers Closed in at ramming speed. Those ork ships to far to ram the Demiurg Directly were sending in Waves of fighter bombers and torps in support combined with haphazard fire power.

The aftermath of the battle, the Captured Factory ship can be seen in the hands of its new owners in the centre with soon to be  looted remains of two Demiurg cruisers drifting as hulks.

Nice. MA boarding parties for teh win! Closing with an Ork fleet is risky business because if they make contact there is nothing that will stand against MA boarding parties, not even beakies. I boarded a battle barge once and trounced the defenders much to the surprise their admiral. :yes

 

Yer scumgrod has a nicely painted fleet. I have made note of how he painted his engines and will be giving that some use. :thumbs

 

Lovely tabletop too.

i made a 1500 point list from the 2010 compendium clan rulez.

I have to say Im  not a massive fan of the klan rulez, foces you take more escorts and your fleet rerolls for warlords can only be used on there sqwadrens.

That combined with the fact that the bloodaxe clan rules cant really be put into affect due to the escort tax i thinik Ill try it out for a bit and go back to Armada Waaagh fleets which are way more flexable.

Sadly I have no pics of the last game I played which was over a week ago at this point.

 

I ran my list as stated above and My skumgrod ran his Demiurg fleet again,

we rolled up for mission type and got Exterminatus.

 

We used our attack ratings for each fleet and rolled to see who was the attacker, which resulted in my orks attacking a demiurg Planet.

 

I dont have any pics of the game, I did record the game in real time but alas the camera ran out of power and my lack of editing abilities means there will be no bat rap but mayne in the future ill get the sorted.

 

 

 

The game started with my fleet deployed along the short edge of the table along my left hand side

and the planet was placed at the far right end as per the scenario.

 

Defences in system consisted of 2 defence platforms and a mine field

the demiurg fleet consisted of a factory ship

4 cruisers deployed in groups of 2

and some xenos escorts

 

The game started with one of his squads of two cruisers deployed abeam to my fleet and roughly within 40cm, he had the mine fieald placed directly in the path of my fleet just in orbit around what can be guessed as the Demiurg outpost planet. The mine field was falnked on either side by the defence platforms.

 

Basilcy the game consisted of my fleet exploding the two crusiers he had placed close to my fleet(a flank ing position would have been better suited in my opinion)

I had my crusiser placed in the centre of the table with one squad of escorts covering my fleet left flank and two squads of escorts covering my fleets left flank.

 

My going all haead full for the first few turns meant that my fleet was somewhat staggered but that suited me as the escorts had pulled slightly ahead.

His defence platforms were taken out at range by salvoes of Torps.

 

The game sonsisted of me moving up ot the planet with his reinforcments arriving just in time, what really changed the game was my initial placemnt of the Extarminatus ship which had its prow weapons replaced with a planet killer bomb(one assumes it was filled with a very rare form of virus squig)

 

My escorts on the starboard side of my fleet took a baattering from the other squad of demiurg escorts that showed up on the table edge closeest to where I was standing and took a battering for good measure.

 

What turn the tide was his figuring out which ship had the Virus bomb onboard of it and his mine field chewing it to pieces, my bad placement of the ship was part of the problem as it had to pass close to the mine field to get to the planet.

 

the Demiurg Factory ship showed up just in time to put the final blow in to my The exterminatus ship and thus winning the game for th Demiurg.

Both myself and my skumgrod ended the game with +4 renown, severla of the terros ships gained a leadship boost due to xp gained in game.

 

I think were going to have to sit down and make a small campaign star map to play off of

instead of just playing random games as the continuity between games would be nice.

 

All in all my experience against the Demiurg is a bit of a mixed bag.

I find them a lot easier to handle than the likes of beakie or panzee fleets, I find myself making basic msitakes due to placement.

My hope is that Ill knock the rust out of my mental cogs and get back into the swing of the game.

I have found that initial placement is critical because all the ork ships are wallowing tubs compared to every other fleet. If you have to maneuver you're pretty much in the shit to begin with. :scowl  I feel your pain, man.

 

It would be great to see a video batrep, but I understand that amount of work involved is a royal pain. I can hope though, right? In the absence of scumgrods I'm fighting vicariously through your reports.  :cheers

I gave one of the guys who was interested in trying bfg from the local gaming club.

 

Taking into account that he plays Dark angel beakies I managed to cobble together a fleet for Beakies for him to play.

We played a wuick cruiser clash.

So game two of the campaign was played this evening.

My skumgrod decided it was my turn to attack this week, he had rolled for Scenario 4 Surprise attack and set up before I arrived.

We played 1500 points.

My fleet was as follows

Da Dethdeala battle ship
4 terror ships:Bloo Blitzer,Skumgrod Smasha,Badfang Butcha,Brown Thunda and hammer battle kroozer Dims rapid reaper.
Escort wise I had 2 units of 4 brute rams: Da Blitz boyz and cookies kutters.

My skumgrods demiurg was a factory ship
4 cruisers (8hp ones)
2 units of ecsorts.

My sub plot was Meteor storm which knocked out the prow gunz on Dethdela, smashed the bridge on Skumgrod smasha and knocked out Bloo blitzers shields causing them to collapse for the game before we even started.

Since I attacked I went first.

I brought in the blitz biyz and kookies kutters to my port flank to deal with the two active ships in system. While the rezt of my fleet bore down on the Demiurg in orbit above the planet.

At the end of my first turn I knocked out the two crusiers sitting out front of the demiurg fleet and managed to score a hit on the active cruisers to the port with the brute rams.

In his turn he managed to activate 1 cruiser and the factory ship.
The two crusiers to my port flank mauled the brute rams leaving only one of each sqwadren.

Dims reaper being up front got 4 hp knocked off for good measure from his capital ship and the Dethdeala had a couple of hp shaved off too.

In my second turn I moved Bloo blitzer through the asteroid field on the starboard side of the fleet forgetting its shields were stuffed it suffered 5hp of damage and was crippled from impacts.
The brute rams moved in behind the crusiers to the port side of the engagement and Dims rapid reaper decided to ram the capital ship shaving all but one of Demiurgs flag ship hp off.
The procceeding gunnery a d ordinance wrecked the Demiurg fleet.

2 cruisers were hulked along with the capital factory ship. The escorts furthest from my fleet chewed on a few torps which resulted in my knocking out 2/3 of them.

One of the hulks in the centre had a plasma over load which then set of another hulk to bave its warp drive implode.

In his second tuen my skumgrod proceeded to activate the remaining escort and withdrew his remaining ships. Thus winning me the game.

I gained 21 renown crom the battle and rolled 2 refits for the Deathdela resulting in grot targeters and a red paint job.

My winning the battle meant I know control Minerva (civ) worldalong with my starting planet of Granica.

We are playing on the Armageddon Sub sector map.
I will be aiming for Armageddon itself in my next attack what with it being a hive world would give me decent repair points.

I ended this game with 27 renown and 3 rerolls plus the planet Minerva

Ships that were withdrawn for repairs and can not fight in the next battle:Bloo Blitzer, Dims rapid reaper and kookies kutters brute rams.
