In the wake of such great modelers as Agatheron and Soylent Bob, I decided I would have a go at making a WarBoss on Bike too, starting from a fish'ead Ion Cannon.

So, what do I need first? An Ion Cannon (duh)
Posted Image
That is glued together, and cleared of those weird protrusions
Posted Image
Next up, about the most important thing about Bikes : they need wheels, so I started on the rear wheel

And every wheel needs a mudguard, so the Ork driving the Bike doesn't get too dirrrty
Posted Image
Posted Image
Next up, the front Wheel, which I attached to the body of the Bike simply by using the stock Ork Bike fork
Posted Image
Posted Image
And of course, the front wheel needs a mudguard too. This one is slightly less conventional, but it's a first good use for the Black Orc command sprue I bought

Next important thing on an Ork Bike are the Guns :
Posted Image
And after that, it was time to add a fuel-tank to the bike (aka I've finally found a good use for that Cannon that came with the old Fantasy starter-box)
Posted Image
Posted Image
Then it was time to add some exhausts, and I also used the bit that joined them originally
Posted Image
Using some ForgeWorld glyphs, I partially covered the gaps left by the Imperial Cannon
Posted Image
Posted Image
And then, with the help of a Rocket Launcher part and a part from the buggy engine, I completed the Bikes’ engine

Using some coiled rods, I rendered the exhausts a wee bit more interesting
Posted Image
And an Ork Bike steering wheel was quickly glued into place
Posted Image
With some greenstuff, I finalised the closing of the gaps under the fuel-tank
Posted Image
With the steering-wheel in place, I was able to focus on the driver and his position.
Even though I wanted this to become my WarBoss on Bike model, I decided against it (this will become clearer further on) and I used a normal Ork Boy in stead.

Soo, having added a driver, now it's time to make some room for the WarBos.
Enter the side-car, or at least, the beginnings, using a Snot Pump Wagon and a Buggy wheel-guard
Posted Image
When you add a wheel and the front of the pump-wagon, it really does look like a side-car

And with the driver :

Of course, the big downside of the Snot Pump Wagon is that it is completely made out of wood. Using greenstuff, I evened out the frontplate, and with some thin plasticard, I covered up the bed of the side-car.
Posted Image
At this moment, I decided that the arms of the driver simply didn’t pull it off in that pose, so with the leftover greenstuff, I repositioned them more convincingly
Posted Image
And now for the pic you've all been awaiting for : Barry inspecting da goods
Posted Image
As you can see, this fig is rather oversized when compared to other GWS figs, even Bikes with side-cars. That's why I used some wood which I dremeled into a nicely custom-sized base

I think the wheels are too small for that frame. Any chance of using the bigger ones, or are those already? Maybe doubling them up in the back? Right now to me, and I think this will get worse with a warboss on it, they look undersized. Also, and I know it's heavy WiP, but smooth out that part under the seat there, it's bugging the heck out of me. :cheers

Everything is going along quite nicely now, and I even started painting the Bike, but I'm still missing the WarBoss. Hence I started to convert him. The Huge Choppa, normally in the left hand switched places with the Kombi-Shoota in the right hand, and the left hand was cut off completely in anticipation of me finding a decent Power Klaw
And this is what I came up with :

you twerp, you must have been posting as I was! :cheers it looks better with the sidecar, but I still think the wheels are a bit undersized. The mudgards do help though.

It was for an online painting/converting comp, and we couldn't share our works until the deadline.
What part under the seat do you mean exactly?

And indeed, in hindsight, it needed bigger wheels, at the very least for the rear wheel.

Hey, cool model, Quase. I have no need for a Biker Warboss, but I have all the bitz you used and seeing this is sorely tempting me to copy it. Nice job. I love the weapon switch on the WB. Not fond of the PK though. You should have beefed up the worky bitz some to balance out those kutty bitz. I like the base too.

forget my seat comment, it got buried in the job. Looks good, although his skin tones look a bit flat. I also see flash on those rear wheels..... :lol :cheers

Nice bike, Quase. :thumbs It still say it's a bit unorkydox to have the boss not manning the bike. But your model does look good. :yes Has the winners of the contest been announced? :? Some of your pic links don't appear to be behaving. :blush

Hakk... the links date from over a month ago... I'll look into that later. I came out second from 11 contestants, with only 1 point in diffrence from the winner. They had to drag in extra judges because the initial judging was a draw, and then the three extra judges gave a draw too, so they dragged in yet another judge. :/

Yeah, I was a wee bit surprised by that one I must say.

I think the Orky feel and the coversions' execution made me win the points advantage he had over me with his painting skills back.
