Da HQ has been 'earin' some moanin' an' groanin' from you lot about a lack of rumours threads wot all da Boyz can see. So we's made some more changes.

The general rumours discussion thread can now be found in the Brainboyz Hut, which is a sub-forum of the Goff Fortress. For those who still can't find it, here it is.

We've also started a special models-only thread here. This one won't be for discussion, but we'll be adding any stuff we pick up, including photos. Please PM me or any of the other members of the HQ if you think we've missed something.

As many of you know, there an apparently authentic GW release schedule found its way onto the Warseer forums, and this contains provisional release dates for the new models to be released with the new codex. This information is included below, but remember that even if that schedule is authentic, the dates are subject to change.

Part 1 - Ork releases for Codex: Apocalypse:

A plastic Baneblade kit will be released on 13 October 2007 (UK release date) as the centrepiece of the Codex: Apocalypse release schedule. It's included here because it's bound to become a popular subject for Ork modellers, and because the Apocalypse codex permits Orks to field looted Baneblades. The codex also has rules for the Skullhamma Battle Fortress, which is less formidable than a normal Baneblade, but which is able to carry 30 Orks and packs a reasonable amount of firepower. It's also Fast and counts as open-topped for the purposes of mounting and dismounting.

Photos of Baneblades can be found here:

Here is a photo of a Skullhamma Battlefortress converted from a Baneblade (taken from the GW Canada site; this model also appears in the codex):

The following Ork models will be released on 13 October 2007 (UK release date) as part of the Apocalypse release schedule:

- Dred Mob (a boxed set containing 3 of current metal Dreadnoughts and 6 Killer Kanz)

- Big Mek with kustom blasta (formerly described as having a 'super shoota'; metal figure - now available for advance order):

There have been numerous rumours that a plastic Stompa kit, supposedly designed by Aly Morrison, was to be released as part of Codex: Apocalypse. It was subsequently suggested that this kit has been cancelled or postponed, either due to design issues (too many sprues) or simply because it was thought that it won't sell in sufficient numbers. The latest rumour is that it is still in the works, but it's unlikely to appear any time soon. However, the Apocalypse codex does include rules for the Stompa, which is described in the pre-release publicity as a 'massive Ork Titan', so it will be possible to field scratchbuilt models with 'official' rules. There are two different types, a basic version with a substantial number of different guns, and a Mek's version with a 'lifta droppa' weapon.

Stompas appear in the Apocalypse artwork:

GW have built 2 Stompa models that are very similar to the ones in the artwork. Whether this means that any eventual Stompa kit would look like these is still unknown. The armament shown on these models pretty much matches the rules in the codex.

Part 2 - New plastic and metal figures for Codex: Orks

The following releases appear to be confirmed for January 2008 as part of the Ork codex release schedule (most of these photos are from Games Day UK, and I believe they should be credited to various Warseer posters; please let me know if specific acknowledgements are requested):

- 'Speed Freaks' (presumably a boxed set containing a mixture of new Warbikes and Trukks.)

- Tankbustas (boxed set of metal figures, including a Nob, 2 Squigs with strapped-on tankbusta bombz, and an Ork armed with a 'Tankhamma')

- Painboy (metal figure with Grot Orderly)

P1010015.JPG

- Weirdboy (metal figure; the boxed set may include Minderz as well)

P1010008.JPG

- Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun (metal figure - note the Snotling being 'hoovered' up into the weapon)

P1010010.JPG

- Nob with Waaagh Banna (metal figure, which will apparently be available only from mail order)

- 'Lootas and Burnas, including Mek' (boxed set, plastic with parts to make either unit type, plus a Mek. The prototype Mek shown below is part of this set)

- Ork Boyz (plastic boxed set - note that these are essentially the current plastic Boyz, but the sprue has been revised and additional parts provided, much as they did when they revised the basic beakie sprues. It appears that all of the options available to a Boyz mob in the new Ork codex are included on the sprues, including the Nob with a power klaw, as well as a big shoota and a rokkit. The Nob is missing from this photo of the sprue, and is shown assembled in the next photo. There are enough parts on the sprue to build 10 Boyz and 1 Nob)

Part 3 - New Ork vehicles

- Wartrukk (plastic kit, which includes a sprue containing nearly all of the Ork vehicle upgrades. It does not appear to be a modular kit, although it's obviously been designed to be converted easily)

- Warbikes (plastic kit, with 3 different Warbike designs and optional parts to vary the appearance)

The following rumours are still speculative, and it appears unlikely that any of these rumoured releases will appear when the new codex is released. It is rumoured that a second wave of Ork releases is planned for 2008, depending on the success of the initial new models. So get ready to spend yer teef to make the first wave of new Ork models a success!

- There may be a new plastic Warboss set that includes all of the weapon option listed under the Warboss entry in the new codex. This would be consistent with the beakie and Chaos codexes. Alternatively, the Warboss may simply be re-done in metal, or even kept unchanged (note that no new Warboss model, either plastic or metal, has surfaced yet, and Phil Kelly is reported as saying there wouldn't be one in plastic).

- There may be new mega-armoured Nobz, either in metal or in plastic. They may be released as a boxed set of 3 (again, no model has surfaced at this stage).

- There may be plastic Gretchin. They are rumoured to have been designed along the same lines as the new plastic Night Goblins (it's not clear exactly what this means, but presumably they would break down into similar components, or at least have seperate heads). It's also rumoured that the sprue would include a Slaver and a Squighound. Alternatively, the plastic Grots may be included in the rumoured replacement for the Battle of Macragge boxed set. A 3-up of a Gretchin appeared at the recent Games Day, which strongly suggests that plastic Grots will appear at some point:

grot.jpg

- There may be a plastic Battlewagon kit. It was rumoured that this was delayed/canceled due to damage to the mould (ironically, the mould for the first plastic Battlewagon is said to have been broken, ending its production, and this may be the source of this rumour). It's more likely that any Battlewagon kit will depend on sales of the new Ork models.

- There may be a new WH40k boxed set to replace the Battle of Macragge set. This would contain plastic Orks, including a Dethkopta, and 'umies.

And here is a photo of the codex cover artwork. I'm not sure where this originated, so if someone wants to be acknowledged as having taken it, please let me know:

Finally, official photos of the new Ork models have begun to appear:

Well, since these models have nearly all been released, there isn't much point in keeping this thread up here. I'll start something similar if and when the rumoured '2nd wave' of Ork releases shows any sign of appearing. I hope this thread was useful to those of you who, like me, were scouring the internet on a regular basis looking for news and images of the new models.

Does anyone know who the 'umie sin the new b. for M. would be? Imps? fish'ead? panzee? maybe even the hated tin'eads? i think that a set of 5 plastic, multipart grotz witha slaver and squig should have come out long ago. it would mean that i could collect a grot army faster, cooler and more efficciently! waaagh!
92% of people will read this.

If you are one of the other 8% who hasn't read this far, you will either be lying if you post this in your signature saying you didn't read it or you won't know to paste this into your signature since you didn't read it! Gotcha! Hahahaha! Its the simple pleasures in life.

The new box is gonna be called Battle for Black Reach. Supposed to be an awesome value. It will be Orks and beakies.
