Well, just as I went and sold my two previous warbands, I feel that need for Inquisitor again, and there's a tournament soon, so I figured hey, why not? this time I want to develop a band focused mainly around this chap, Inquisitor Cyrus, a former arbite who witnessed much of Chaos in his career before he was discovered by a high ranking Inquisitor Lord and underwent training as an Acolyte.
Like I say, Cyrus is a puritan. He hates all Radicals, seeing them as fools who are on the steady path to damnation. He witnessed his own masters death at the hands of a Bloodletter, and took up one of the fallen Blodletter weapons and downed the monster with a single, mighty blow that took his head clean off from his shoulders. He has kept this weapon ever since, and had it reforged into a mighty hammer he calls Daemon Vanquisher.
so, there's the skinny on the main chap. I plan to model him off the image of an Inquisitor in the rulebook, holding his mighty power hamer in both hands and standing ready. I intend to purchase old Preacher Josef on monday so I can model Cyrus off of him. Now, who else should I include?
Cyrus has done a good deal of travelling in his time, and spends mst of it in old Hive Cities such as necormondua hunting down small bands of Heretics, if that helps. I was thinking of adding an enforcer, what do you guys think I need?

well i would suggest a death cultist, but then people around where i live complain about my warbands, the last three were nothing but death cultist bands! :biggrin an enforcer sounds good, how about a hive ganger that your inquisitor has "recruited" into his warband? use sergeant stones body, slick devlans head (maybe) something like that... as you said your inquisitor stays in old hves a lot, then definatley a tech priest adept is a must, always useful to have someone like that to get through cyber lcoked doors and the like. if you dont like the hive ganger idea, then why not add a chrono-cladiator, considering that he will have been breaking up a lot of chaos cults inside the hives, hes not going to have that many friends there, especially if some of the hive's high and mighty were members of said cult which he destoryed, so a chrono gladiator as a body guard is a good idea IMO! there ya go... - Boss Barkfang

Thanks for the advice, I like alot of those ideas and intend to use them. :thumbs I'll definetly take the Chrono Gladiator, as that fits with the fluff and will allow me to take some serious CC goodness. :choppa A hive ganger also seems a logical choice, and I wanted someone to use a big gun anway. (I like big guns :biggrin ) The tech priest is certainly a plan to, and they have access to some nice gear. The only thing is I hate the model, so some conversion work may need to be somewhere around there. I'm not so sure about the Death Cultist, I took once once, but she eventually got slaughtered by an Eversor assassin. :cheers The fact you took a whole band full means I probably agree with some your gamers! Cheers again for the advice, I'll write up soem fluff for them and post later tonight.

Bet your opponents got abit shocked, unless of course, they were all beakies. Eitherways, question time. I was wondering about including a heavy old weapon on my ganger, but is this a good idea fluff wise? I don't know if I could see a ganger lugging a heavy bolter around. Maybe I should kust give him a stubber and put soem implants on the gladiator.

well yes my opponents were shocked, but then i explain what i'd done behind the scenes so to speak, basically, i hadn't made them the uber characters people think that death cultists should be. these were acolytes of death, very good at dealing it and staying hidden, but not much good in a stand up fight so to speak! i cant really see the ganger using a heavy bolter, or even a boltgun for that matter, considering the sie of the weapons, unless he's got a cybernetic arm or is chewing handfuls of steroids in his spare time i cant see him even being strong enough to lift it! I say give him a stub gun or a heavy stubber at most! and yeah this fits with the fluff, cause you could always reason that he aquired it from a "friend" in the underhive! as for the gladiator, it depends really. you could give him some implants, i would definatley give the gladiator some doses of Slaught though, loverly stuff!

Right then, lets give this a go! Here's what I've got so far: Khalkiar: Born into the hive of Necormondua, Khalkiar was large and very tough from birth, and even meaner. It came as no surprise when he mutrdered his own parents in a temper tantrum and fled into the streets, where he was quickly adopted by the house of Goliath. He quickly rose through the ranks, beating on every other gang member until his arms were nothing but slabs of muscle and tattoos. Within six months of joining, he had risen to gang leader. His sudden success, however, was to plummet when one night, he and his gang were commissioned to smuggle some important weapon stashes form Imperial docks. Once he saw the credits, Khalkiar quickly agreed. That night, he and his men waited patiently until the crates came into sight. Then, they pounced, killing the guards swiftly and running into the night with their weapons. It was unfortunate that their client would be awaiting them with an armed escort of Arbites. They were brought in fighting and spitting, but were eventualy brought to the courthouse. It is of little consolation to the fallen gang leader that their client never got his money, and was in fact shot when it turned out he himself had killed those who tried to expose him. He was quickly tried and sentenced to become a chrono gladiator. Despite three escape attempts, the sentence went through and Khalkiar was pressed into the service of guarding the docks. Four agonisng years later, Inquisitor Cyrus of the Ordo Malleus arrived to investigate Heretic activity. While strolling down the docks, he was set upon by cultists who beat him down and wounded him. As their leader lifted his revolver to shoot him, there was a thunderous roar and a dark shadow emerged from behind the corner, headbutting the leader and breaking his neck. Before the others could react, the monster was upon them, killing foward and centre. Within moments, the docks were a scene of blood and gore. The beast carried Cyrus back to safety, and a little later was sentenced ot execution for destruction of valuables and the death of a guilders son. Cyrus however saved him from execution and exposed the guilder as a heretic. As he tried to flee, Khalkiar tore him open. Cyrus gave the gladiator an offer. It turned out he had beenm to several hive worlds and was usually in great danger with the upper guilders. He would need a bodyguard, an dsince Khalkiar faced danger there. To this day, none of Cyrus retinue have been more loyal nor trustworthy than the chrono gladiator. very good, i like the way in which you took something as unruly as a goliath and then turned him into an imperial servant. Is Inquisitor Cyrus a fair inquisitor or does he lways have a trick up his sleeve? i only ask because if he is the latter and has a dark streak to him, you could always add in to the fluff that the reson that Khalkiar is so loyal, is beacuase the Inquisitor has had the death timer stopped, and if Khalkiar ever betrays him Cyrus can set the timer going from whatever time he wants! - Boss Barkfang

Brilliant idea! :thumbs I'd say Cyrus was fair, but as an Inquisitor I should imagine he'll go to any lengths to get what he wants. Thanks of rthat piece, I'll be sure to include it. :cheers and here's our next piece, I present to you, Hawk: There is a small and rather insignificant hive world called Gudya within the Imperium. As is typical with hiveworlds, msot of its lower descendants take the form of gangs constantly on the prowl for goods, drugs and spirits to drown their sorrows in. Within Gudya, the most dominant house to date with a network of gangs beneath them is undoubtedly the Arkalius. Their leader was known only as Hawk. His origins are unknown, he simply appeared one day, carrying his heavy stubber and sporting a long blue scar across his cheek. His impressive appearence and ability to down wildsnake on a regular basis, yet still identify his weapon in the pile and fight and find his way home with ease soon earned him a lot of followers. Four years later, even the guilders were obeying him, even though they never admitted it. The Arbites were constantly on his back, but otherwise were never directly involved. Hawk grew accustomed to his power, constantly aware of the threat of assassination, yet always emerging alive and well. At one point, a stranger landed down at Gudya. He didn't identify himself, yet only had to show soem kind of curious badge to have the authorities at his feet like lapdogs and gain the protection of the arbirators. he needed non , however, as he and his hulking bodyguard each proved to be masters of combat, armed otherwise. Hawk learned to respect this pair, and monitored them personally using stealth and guile unknwon to others. He quickly learnt of their identidy when he witnessed them walk in and interupt a meeting of Cultists as they attempted to summon a daemon. The cultist leader however, was none other than one of the guilders. Upon learning that the stranger was in danger, he followed them silently to a meeting wiht the guilders. He listened as the Inquisitor calmly explained about he intended to either have the Arbites flood the lower classes and seal the heretics off, or he would sign the order to bombard them. The guilders reaction was to send corrupted arbites in to kill him, and reveal themselves as cultists. Although the chrono gladiator fought well against the arbites and Cyrus brought down two guilders, they were ultimately outnumbered. Hawk broke in, guns blazing in panic. Within ten minutes, the heretic threat was extinguished. Amazed by how much there realy was out there and the things that went on in the universe, Hawk begged Cyrus to take him with him. Seeing potential, Cyrus took him into his retinue and they disappeared within hours of the guilders discovery. hmmm...i like the idea behind him, but not the fact that he is the "leader" of the Arkalius. It just dosent seem right that a leader who is accustomed to so much power in his home would up sticks and leave with a stranger, especially with the guilders andcorrupt arbites dead, i rather think that the leaders of gangs and such would be moving into fill the power vacuum left by the inquisitors wake! I dont know though, keep it like this if you want, presonally i'd make Hawk a outlaw or a bounty hunter from the underhive, something like that whereby he has the talents and skills, but not the power and responsibilty of being a leader, so it dosent matter if he stays or leaves. Unles that is that Hawk didnt really want to be leader of the Arkalius? he was just followed because of his skills and his ability to drink anyone else under the table? If its like that then his story works, if he chose to take power and wanted to lead, then unfortunatley i dont think it does! - Boss Barkfang

Not explained very well, Hawk never really wanted power. His main obssession was adventure, abit of gang violence and wildsnake. When he got power though, he just got used to it and settled down to his new life. After his encounter with Cyrus though, his earlier life came flooding back into him, and he realised that there's a whole universe out there. Probably wasn't very clear there.

well, it should appear I'd like some advice again. I did think long and hard about the tech priest idea, and decided against it. The main thing there is character. I'd like to stick with this theme of including the kind you'd see on Hive Worlds, and I've had soem different ideas on the matter. Firstly, an enforcer. This seemed the most obvious to me, an Arbite who having seen hetical behaviour amongst even the highest powers, wishes to accompany the Inquisitor on his journey of purging these hive worlds. Next, an Imperial Guardsmen. I toyed with the idea of a Guardsmen who has committed some sin that lost him his livelihood, and now he simply sits and drinks. However, he still retains training at heart, and when the Inquisitor comes along, there may yet be a second chance. And finally, my favourite but at the same time, most doubtable idea, a Rogue Trader. A sly, quick minded fellow who makes a great pilot, cunning mind and in it simply for personal gain. He plans to smuggle in goods, but even he has his policies, especially when he discovers his clients are a band of mutants in league with Cultists who wish to undermine the Guilders. Which do you guys think? Do you have any alternate suggestions. All feedback is much appreciated. :thumbs

well lets see, the enforcer: this could work, esecially from the hive world point of view, however in my expirience i have found them to be a little less then useful in game terms, but then i supposse its how you play it that counts. the imperial guardsman: personally i do not like this idea, if you changed his story a little to make it a bit more guardish - ie...he is on the run from the commisariat for something that he would be executed for, when he runs into the inquisitor then he finds his second chance. something along those lines would work better i think. Cause most sins in the 'umies are punished by the commisariat, the guardsmen are not thrown out! the rogue trader: my favourite suggestion, kinda like a 40k-ish Han Solo in a way, the smuggler who tries to stay outsie of imperial law, but then (in a 40k tiwst) he helps when he discovers just who he is smuggling for! this idea works the best, really characterful and will allow you to add a whole lot of extra background for their meeting. If instead of making him a space bound rogue trader, use the template to make him a petty smuggler from the hive, maybe working outside of the guilders knowledge, something like that. Hope this helps - Boss Barkfang

The Rogue Trader it is! Guy Khaarn was born into the wealthy house of Bernard Khaan on the mineral rich planet, Zeal. From an early age Guy showed promise as a rogue trader. While studying, he smuggled his fellow studentys sweetfruits, wines and other such fineries, and later small knives, firearms and in one case, a hellgun. It came as no surprise to his piers when he chose the life of a rogue trader and signed most o fhis former colleagues on as crew for his new ship. For years, the Adeptus Arbirators were in such of this elusive devil who would appear out of nowhere, ship in valuables of considerablely dangerous nature and fade again without explanation. Guy knew every trick in the book, he even wrote some himself! So imagine when he was offered enough credits to weigh down his ship and send it plummetting into the warp. It was in the Hive World of Vyze that his contract took him. A large band of mutants were looking for sufficient firearms to start up a rebellion, as well as several other, more curious and much rarer artifacts. Not to let such a deal slip, Guy arranged with the mutant leader to meet him down by a grox farm in the middle of nowhere every night for the next fortnight to collect his materials and pay for them as he did. Well, for the first eight nights, everything went fine. But on the ninth, the mutant never came. Curious, he went down to see where the blasted wretch was. Guy recognised an Inquisitor when he saw on, having encountered several in his career, and hid away. Experience taught him the value of eavesdropping, and he learnt a terrible secret that night. His clients were in league with the dark gods! Working along with cultists, they intended to summon a bloodthirster and unleash it on the upper hive. Thiswould not do, he decided. It was unfortunate for him that he never noticed the wretch spying on HIM. when he returned to his ship, his crew were dead, his assets seized and the arbites were right behind him. Realising he'd been framed, he lied to Arbites and claimed to be in league with Inquisitor Cyrus. Taken aback, they took him to the Inquisitor to confirm this. Puzzled but quick minded, Cyrus confirmed that this man was in his service and was to be left alone. When they left, he had Guy pinned down and interrogated. Onc ehe figured out what was going on. Cyrus ordered for Guy to be killed while they tracked the cultists. Guy protested, but the chrono gladiator knocked him unconcious. He awoke to find himself bound to a log heading straight down towards a giant buzz saw. Thinking quickly, he used one of his digi weapon rings to free himself and flee to where he knew the Inquisitor was going. When he got there, Cyrus was in a duel with the cultist leader, a corrupted beakie. Panicked, Guy first hought of running, but relaised the cultists would come for him next. With no alternative, he drew his family heirloom, a sword, and ran the beakie through the back where his flesh was exposed. The cultists fled right back to where the Arbites were waiting, and were soon executed. Cyrus confronted the rogue trader and informe dhim that it seemed he was not to be rid of him. And seeing how he WAS in the Inquisitors service. Guy, while not the most reliable member of the retinue, has never the less provided many years of loyal service to this day. Okay, now I've spoken to my computer and I think we understand each other. :scowl The central figure Inquisitor Cyrus: Cyrus was born to a wealthy family on the planet of Quela. His father was a very powerful rogue trader while his mother was an Arbite Judge. Cyrus quickly inherited most of his mothers traits, including being able to naturally sense danger and feeling a certain responsibility for innocents. It was no surprise when he joined Adeptus Arbirators and rose quickly through the ranks. Soon, Cyrus was leading his own squad into the most dangerous of missions. He led by example, and was at one point asked to take command of the arbites Quela, though he wouldn't go any further than squad leader. He insisted on taking on all of the most dangerous assignments, and put others first. Natural hero, some might've said. then it allc ahnged when the killings began. Bodies turned up mutilated and ritually tortured and sacrificed. Despite dedicating their best resources, the arbites couldn't discover the enemy. Finally, when they located the source, only one squad would be sent through with orders not to break no matter what. Cyrus led the attack against cultists, and of rthree weeks they were unseen. then they emerged, blodied and battered, but intact and successful. The story quickly spread, so far as to Inquisitor Lord Xylus. an extremely old and highly repsected Inquisitor, he made his way down to meet Cyrus and a short time later took him on as an acolyte. After twenty years together, Cyrus eventually left Xylus to become an Inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus. From there, he spent many long years away from the Inquisition down beneath the Hive worlds before he finally emerged with his retinue to aid in cleansing an Inquisitorial fortress that had been attacked by Chaos. After the cleansing, Inquisitor Tyrus became curious about this Inquisitor and arranged to meet him. It turned out he waswell knwon across many Hive Worlds, admired by some and hated by most for his causing damage and getting along not so well with the guilders. He had contacts with Rogue Trader Yashykke, Galovespian pilots, many different arbirators and the governor of his home planet. Since then, he and Tyrus, depsite bitterly hating one another, have been forced to work together on several occassions. His present location is unknown, he ewas last seen investigating the Hive World of Jayza. Ask and though shat recieve! It's my birthday today, and I now have cash with which tp spend upon bringing this colourful little band to life in good time! Cyrus father was an extremely powerful and wealthy rogue trader. Like most rogue traders, he was quite conceited, flashy and generally not all he made out to be. When he got busted by the Arbites for smuggling weapons, he qas forced to do a public service and give up half of his assets. It was in this act that he met his love, and wed soon after. Cyrus, while admiring his father, just couldn't bare to see himself so much like him. And when he accidentally witnessed the man beg some gangsters for more time, his wolrd was shattered. He needed to becom eharder and tougher, he needed to follow someone who wouldn't let him down. His mother provided that role. After Tyrus first met Cyrus, he became suspicous of him and kept close tabs on him. Someone who dealt with so much Chaos and had all of these contacts seemed to shifty for him. Eventually though, his constant monitoring got to Cyrus, and he confrotned Tyrus. There was an arguement, which quickly led to blows. Tyrus accused Cyrus of heresy, but the Inquisitor was cleared of all charges. Since then. the two have bitterly hated one another, yet have been forced to save each others lives on numerous occassions. This only deepens their feud, and it is believed one day Tyrus will take the next step and go above the Inquisition, killing Cyrus himself. Hope thats cleared it up abit. I'll see how my camera and I get on before I decide to start posting pics. I'll begin work next week, which do you think I should begin with. I plan to do Cyrus last.
