Alright, so I've had this project going for some time "in secret". So far, everything is done except the feet and the klaw.

It's kind of a "proof of concept" for the rest of my kanz mob.

Sweet. That baby looks awesome. Great attention to detail. I especially like the triple rokkits. I am definitely going to loot that design. Nice work on the engine bitz. Very nice. I can't wait to see it finished. :thumbs :thumbs

I like it, although I find it strange that you decided to copy the exact design instead of improving upon it or making your own. But still a good job. :thumbs

Not really, but I was inspired to build it after reading the kan 101 tutorial. I based it more off the unassembled GW model that I have.

As I said, it's a proof-of-concept. I've made some 'modifications' such as the flat visor, the triple rokkit, and the klaw will be different (maybe triple klaw, to go with the rokkit?). But mostly, it's just to prove to myself that I can make a solid regular kan before I go off making different ones. My next might be more of a mechwarrior style kan (or dread?), with shoulder mounted rokkits. This one, I hope, might make people give it a second glance to figure out whether or not it's GW-made. Also, it's a heck of a lot lighter and more durable than the metal kans!

I made them the same way I did for my tankbustas. I start out with some plastic rod (or in the case of the tankbustas, with 5 squares of 1mm thick plasticard glued together and hacked and whittled until it resembled a rod). Then I cut the end off into a blunt spear shape with my knife. And then I cut further down into a sharper spear shape so it has a nice parabolic look. Then I whittle it until it becomes a bit round, and then I sand it, cut a groove, and add fins. :thumbs

As for more pics, I dunno... I'm a bit lazy. I was hoping to have more stages shown but I didn't bother to take pics until just today. Too bad - you would have seen how easy it is to build your own kan!

Nice work, Ghaelon :yes I see a vast improvement in your skills, and I am sure this top secret project is a contributor to the improvement. I learned quite a bit when I made the plastic mega armor, as one has to scrutinize the model and break all the forms down into flat shapes (or whatever shapes of card that are available) It's a great exercize, much like how art students make 'master copies' of art hanging in museums.

Very impressive. Lots of work and even more patience went into this. My favorite part is the plasticard fan belt on the back. :thumbs

Wow....that is just...wow. I think you have graduated to Killa Kan 301. So many great things to point out but overall you got rid of the worst part of the GW kan, the round shape. :puke I look forward to future work. :thumbs

Right, im exposing the truth on this 'ere thing. You painted a kan white, didnt ya? yer dirty zogger :choppa ;) in all seriousness, i would never be able to work with the fiddily bits that would be needed to make that kan, although i share the opinion with everyone else that you should have improved on the design more. However, the more i look at it, the more i try to work out just how you did it, the more my mind boggles :/
