I was also struggling to find the stats for the bigga Big Squiggoth so the post you did was a big help in pinning them down. Between that and another article I've found, i think I have it now.

Pretty sure it's the most up to date version.

Yes, this is the 2013 version with the Big Squiggoth for 180 points rules. Imperial Armor Apocalypse Second Edition (2011 similar but more blue cover) has the rules for the Big Squiggoth 50 points version. Imperial Armor Apocalypse (2007) also has the same Big Squiggoth for 50 points. A little google-fu can uncover the data sheets for these.

And yes, the Ork rules all over the place is sort of a mess. The paperback version of Waaagh! Ghazghkull (2nd printing?) has compiled formation datasheets from various places into one spot, but I refuse to admit or confirm whether I own this (as Dim would deservedly toss me out of cool boyz club, if I am actually included in any but a Walter Mitty-esque way anyway.)

Thanks Derry, I have the rules for the big Squiggoth 50pt and I'm pretty sure I have the guts of the rules for the 180 too apart from the fearless rule which I hazard a guess as 10 Ork models within 12 " . I don't play competitive games only games with friends and family so that'll be close enough. I have the old Ghazghkull book but drew the line at buying the reprint .

"big squiggoth rules" Google image search will reveal the 180 point version as the first image (or so.) The details of the Snakebite combat drug and other details are cool enough that I advise getting the data sheet since results can be cooler than winging it.

Bit late to the party on this one, I was talking to FW about this very thing. They recommend IA 8 kastorel novem for gargantuan squiggoth rules NOT g.w apocalypse.

Well of course, they don't sell 40k Apocalypse. I'd also argue their version is stupidly overpriced for what the Gargy can do.

Both the Big and Gargantuan Squigoths are overpriced, in shekels and points. The 180pt Big(ger) Squiggoth isn't in AI8 . I have that one. It only has the 50pt affectionately known as da baby Squiggoth version and the Gargantuan one,

It matters little. Forge World are still a bunch of lazy, non-proofreading gits who overcharge for books with poor quality writing that they hardly even bother to update adequately and certainly don't manage or plan properly, and thus if you own a mere three FW Ork models it is likely you need three separate sources for their rules anyway.

You might as well get the most effective rules running, because FW are overstretched over 3 separate commitments (Horus Heresy, Specialist Games Remix and 40k) and 40k has the lowest priority, with Orks being one of the most neglected and regularly shafted factions in that game, so you can imagine where we are on the waiting list for this mythical fucking IA8 update that will most likely just remove anything they don't make models of, which could include the Kustom Stompa, or at least most of its options, if they are feeling mean, which judging from our Codex is likely.

So yeah. Use the best rules. The best rules are in 40k Apocalypse. I doubt the Forge World guy has a particular clue about Ork rules anyway. That's usually my experience.

As Dim has said the ork rules are spread over several books most of which are out of print.

Unless your a lucky sod such as myself and get a mint copy of IA8 with poster cheaper than GW sold it then your best bet is Pdf's online.

Normally I dont condone such actions but since Forga world clearly dont support our faction any more we have little choice.

There will always be the hardcore collector's such as myself who need that aesthetic that comes from the hardback copies.

I have a post knocking about somewhere that has the most recently printed rules reference knocking about somewhere.

Incidentally, the one used in BattleScribe is the 40k Apocalypse version, using its points, and if you click on the eye after adding it to your list, it has all the rules... If you play in a casual crowd, that's all you'll need.

As Skarnir says, they're referring you to an out of print book they no longer sell. Shows you how much they know.
