New stuff on the horizon?
Posted 11 March 2017 - 08:09 PM
So with the language used and speculation on a non xeno friendly board that this could be linked to GorkaMorka reboot, or alongside the hints dropped in the fluff lately about a new 'Beast' ork and Ghazzghul reaching critical mass of his Waaagh of a new Ork/Xeno Triumvirate with a bigger Ghazzy?

The Ork community is too burned and triggered to expect anything nice. Given that the Orks have just been chucked at the Nids, it's possible GW just sidelined their two favourite targets of the nerf bat to indulge in porn for the races they like working on.
Very few of us are happy with Orks as they are. So change is needed. But for many of us, all that trust, hope and expectation is just spent. Sure, we might get something. It'll probably still result in us sucking more balls than we already do.
I'm writing an article about what I think the future of Orks will be. The title's called "The Death of the Ork Faction". So that should be nice and cheery.

And them talking about their "ork day" and orky chat stuff, it's almost like when people jump on a bandwagon on twitter/Facebook without really understanding or committing any actual effort towards the cause

I want my Invunerable save back, just so my Warboss doesnt have to hide like a little girl behind some grunts when anybody with a PowerX weapon comes along.

Just to add on to the perpetual self hatred that is being an Ork player; If it's not a boxed game and it's Orks it'll be sub-par to the non-Ork unit that comes out at the same time (See Gork/Morkanaut to Knight Titan and Mek flyer to beakie flyer) or that will come out after it. Orks don't get good stuff because we're not the special ones, or if we do get anything food beakie armies will get the same thing but better.
On the possibility that it's Gorkamorka that would be awesome because it's a simple and fun game to play, you get to create your own vehicles and special models you can include into your normal army that would be pretty sweet.

Be careful what you wish for. Just because Bloodbowl hasn't changed much doesn't mean others won't.
This is more likely to be Epic or BFG. If it's anything in particular. Maybe a remake of Bommerz Over Da Sulphur River.

Boxed game: Shadow war armageddon
Right now we don’t have a huge amount of detail on this set (though we will, very soon), but what we do know is that it is a squad-level game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. The specific setting is the hive cities of War Zone: Armageddon, and the two forces pitted against each other are beakies Scouts from the Blood Angels Chapter and ferocious Ork Boyz.
We think the idea of close-range combat amongst the sprawling ruins of Imperial industry sounds pretty ace.
Sounds like a combined box of Orks and Blood Angels, possibly with some scenery and some extra cardboard and symbolic rules. Just like what we have seen before. Paint yerselves blu gits, un we're might be gettin ourselves a new character model!

Hate to be the cynic here, but Scouts going toe-to-toe with Orks?
If not done with thought it'll compound the "Orks are piss-weak" image that's perpetuated enough as it is.
This will probably be similar in conception to Gangs of Comorragh, so a mini-game. They are at least tending to have units fight that are ostensibly different specialisms, but I haven't really played much Gangs to tell you how well they've succeeded as yet. I also don't really buy the glowing "modern mechanics" nonsense we're getting from some quarters. Gangs may be fun, but it's no improvement on a Specialist Game. It's quicker and disposable, and that's exactly what GW wants in games, but not necessarily what the Industry needs.

10 scouts, 10 Ork boys (same old ones) and a nice piece of scenery. Plus the usual markers and stuff.
