Epic Armageddon is the new version of Epic that will be coming out next year. Given that it's based around the 3rd battle of Armageddon, it's definitely going to have Orks as a central feature of the game. It's been in development for some time, and actually has a website devoted to its creation at Specialist Games.
Epic Armageddon Most of the new model range features is beakies... However, Forgeworld is getting into the act in making Gunwagons to be used in Epic. I suspect that we'll see remodelling for this new game... Apparently there will be new plastics... I don't play Epic... but this interests me. -------------------- ______Agatheron

I would also like to start epic.
How would assembling a small sized beginner force be? Is there HQ, TROOPS... ect? What models would i need to start with? Would a gargant be overkill for small games? Any help would be welcome. -------------------- |

I've been researching this a fair amount!
First, go to that site, download the demo rules and the errata, as well as the 2 basic army list sets (one has the stats, one has the lists). After each section (core rules, specialists, war engines, etc) there is a few training scenarios, they slowly add more rules and troop type into the mix. I'd play all of these first. The actual published rules are supposed to be released this fall... not sure if there's different US/UK releases... so it might be a little longer for the US. All of the old plastics are available to US mail order, you just have to call and ask for it.. make sure you get the unit bases, too (it holds 5 individual troop models). Ork and beakie troop and vehicle sprues are only $3.50, and there's a lot on them, so it can be an inexpesive game if you want it to be. 2-3 beakie sprues and you've got a company, more or less. GW said they are re-releasing th eplastics, and they will be more or less the same as they are, now. but, they are removing the specialist type troops (termies, assault Beakies, etc), and they will be released in metal. Like agatheron said, this focuses on the 3rd War for Armageddon, so they will initially only cover Orks, 'umie and Beakies. Army comp is much different than 40K. You still have points, but that's about it. Instead of a squad, you have a formation, which is the equivalent of a 40K army. Different formations would be things like a KoS, a stompa mob, a gargant, a wartribe, big gunz battery, etc. A basic formation has a set price, but you can often upgrade... including attaching an HQ stand. Only 1/3 of your points can be spent on titans and fliers. You might be able to squeeze a small gargant in a small game... though you could also just do a stompa mob. a stompa is included in every infantry sprue. -------------------- ![]() |

Are epic models easy to paint? Also assembly? Whats that like? And is there like a boxed army set anywhere?

most are quite easy to assemble! clip a model off the sprue, scrape off a little bit of mold lines and glue it on the stand. Most are just one piece.
It is fairly easy to paint them up to a decent standard. Base colors, plus future ink wash with a little highlighting works great. Keep in mind these tiny models are meant to be seen from a distance, so you don't need to put in as much effort as with 40K. GuRu- I kinda hope not, I'd just want the book. I don't know how Specialist/Fanatic does their games. -------------------- ![]() |

Grot's Take:
This is what I've heard from the in-company grape-vine thus far. Keep in mind that all of this is subject to first hand confirmation and is also subject to change: Any retail GW store in Canada can special-order any Fanatic stuff for customers that are interested in picking it up. However, only Battle-Bunker stores (St.Laurent and Oakville) will carry Epic 40,000 in store when it gets released in November. The Epic game will be sold as Warmaster was sold, ie: a rulebook by itself and all armies seperatly. Most armiers will be entirely metal with a few plastic sprues still available (primarily for the Orks). There are plenty of new models to choose from, including a whole wide variety of surprisingly affordable Forgeworld models; typically FW tanks for Epic are extreme specialist varieties (ie command tanks and what not) and are sold in packs of three; usually more than enough for a company level force (ie: detachment). More will come as we get closer to the ship date. Cheers! -------------------- Dreadsock designer.

hmm... I thought this was covered in another thread...
basically they are huge flying troop transports, the assault boat has a few guns on it, but not much. It can land and unload vast amounts of troops. It can let out stormboyz and dethkoptas without landing. Imagine a massive drop pod that can still move around. I belive you have to pay for a space ship to be able to field them, though... not positive on that one. well, since this is available online for free (legitimately!), I see no harm in posting the stats: ORK ASSAULT BOAT (new model – Orky orbital lander) Type Speed Armour Close Combat Firefight War Engine Aircraft (bomber) 5+ 6+ 4+ Weapons: Gun Turrets, 2 x Tank-Busta Rokkits (FxF) Weapon Range Firepower Gun Turrets 30cm D6+3 x AP6+/AT6+ Tank-Busta Rokkits 30cm AT4+ Notes: Damage Capacity 2. 1 Power Field. Transport (May carry ten of the following units: Boyz, Kommandos, Grots, Nobz, Warlord, bikes, buggies, skorchas, deth kopta.) The assault boat does not need to land to disembark Stormboyz or Deth Koptas. Reinforced Armour. Critical Hit Effect: The assault boats control surfaces have been damaged. Roll 1D6 each time before moves: on a roll of 1 it pilot loses control and the assault boat crashes to the ground, killing all on board. FYI- a unit is typically 5 boys or one large vehile. So, the assault boat could carry up to 50 boyz. -------------------- ![]() |

That sounds like one neat unit, can you use it for any game or just special scenarios? -------------------- |

any game, I guess. they are trying to stress not using points based battles, rather they'd like you to do more narrative types. but, it isn't like a special character or anything.
