Erm,
Bad idea that bit me recently. Been getting somewhat fascinated by the big wolf models but don't want to play space wolf... and figured well, my nob bikers seem to be missing a WAAAAGH! banner nob. so I was wondering if anyone's tried this before: putting a nob on a thunderwolf to make some sort of curious and dangerous mad cavalry. I know that boars are kind of the traditional for orks but I'm thinking of something a bit more nasty and cool looking.... So yes, a snake-bite-ish(?) or (insane evil sunz on a red-furred wolf Any advice on this? or if the nob will fit or how feasible is it to stick it on a bike base considering the wolf uses the 60mm base? Obviously I'm trying to stick to standard nob biker profiles. Note that the rest of my nob bikers are painted red as evil sun. -------------------- May Da WAAAGH! be with you....

Given the size difference, I'd be tempted to use the smaller fenrisian wolf set that comes with 40mm bases. The size should be closer and as an added bonus, they are cheaper. You also get more in a box, so you have more options / chances to make mistakes.

I've got a fairly decent cyboar boy on the go made from the fantasy warlord box. You should definitely do this, a wolf would be so much cooler! I think the legs on the standard fantasy boar boys are separate, so you might want to get your hands on them to mount your boss, otherwise greenstuff some legs on, deck it out with loads of dakka, then job's a goddun!

Ok, an update, just bought the damn wolf from ebay. so I'd got a few days to see what the forum thinks I should turn this wolf into.
Yeah went into my usual strange crazes. Ideas are: Snakebite nob on a brown wolf (he thinks it's a boar) Evil sunz nob on a red wolf (go fasta... also the rest of my bikers are evil sun) Deffskull nob on a grey wolf (space wolf colour. he stole it when the beakie wasn't lookin.... ) I'm bit leaning to evil sunz for the whole bike theme but open to new ideas.... what do you think? -------------------- May Da WAAAGH! be with you....

Why not have a Deffskull on an actual Space Wolf?
No need to paint it blue, I just want to see it... -------------------- |

Now that's a funny idea, kinda like a horrible joy-ride in the middle of a fight. may make for a terrible diorama pose.... will keep that in mind. hahaha. -------------------- May Da WAAAGH! be with you....

if orks can loot a carnifex, they probably can loot a half-mechanical wolf

Space wolf players may want to look away now.....
Currently just testing fit so it's stuck together with blu-tack, so most of it is not glued yet. will scratchbuild the rest of the banner when I get more time. Wolf just came in today. Yes. it's got a saddle now and also think the bone-glyphs armour and pole seem to fit it... and need to build something over the nob's big-shoota arm later. also wonder if he needs stirrups.... or I can just say real MANZ don't use stirrups to ride a wolf.... will stick proper... another day. got essays to do today. -------------------- May Da WAAAGH! be with you....

I would think if you repositioned the PK better.. maybe more dramatically it would really add to the model.

Block Busta!!!!
Yeah those forgeworld resin flash blocks make really nice tank-traps. had a bit of stupid fun with making the base. also helps hold up the wolf from the front. Still figuring out where the claw should be positioned. Quite lazy to cut the claw so I'm sort of limited by the angle I glue it at. yes it is still stuck with blu tak... I'd worry bout positioning later. -------------------- May Da WAAAGH! be with you....

so many ideas to loot here for a snakebite player like me.
I'm not a spacewolf expert, can you please confirm which model this is? Is it the Space Wolves Fenrisian Wolf Pack, Space Wolves Thunderwolf Cavalry, as I understand they all have different size. Can you also please let me know what is the exact length of the base, so that I can draw some comparison with what I've got. Thanks a lot, it looks very inspiring. |

to Greyhound...
The model is one of the space wolf thunderwolf cavalry models. Yes, this is the thunderwolf itself, that's why it's so big. Base length is 7.2 cm. i.e. it's a standard-issue bike base (measuring from the bottom. top is slightly smaller due to the sloping). -------------------- May Da WAAAGH! be with you....

Thanks a lot. I expect the wolves to be slightly bigger than the boars... and therefore I can now easily show the difference between my Warbikers boys and nobs thanks to you:
