Hi folks,

I've only just started collecting Orks again (I had the 36 plastic ones in a box back in the Rogue Trader era and my first citadel miniature I think was a single Ork from the old metal Space Ork Raiders box! smilingOrk.gif). That said I've been playing mostly Dark panzee for the last year and have reamassed enough Guard, Beakies, fish'ead and panzee to sink a battleship, but my plan for 2012 is Orks. To start the ball rolling, and because our club needs new terrain, I'm working on some Orky themed pieces. I'll show my progress in this thread to keep my motivated.

Here's the first piece which just needs glyphs painting on to some of the metal sheets.

Also finished but not yet photographed are:

- a second old burned out and looted truck (must be old the grass has regrown! smilingOrk.gif)
- a squig pen (last night got some squigs to populate it! smilingOrk.gif)

In a pile of raw componenents are:

- a windmill (for a generator, not for cereals)
- some huts/ buildings
- a garage with yet another looted truck
- watch towers, Dawn of War style
- banners / signs

watch for updates! smilingOrk.gif

Simon

Jobs a good un. I like how the terrain is useful for gaming-being able to use it as cover or an elevated position.
Side-note: if you are just going to post finished work, you could stick this in Da Trophy Rack. Though, if you plan to keep us updated with WIP shots-keep it here.

A nice little cover save you got there, SirTainly. That's quite an ambitious list, good luck with it! thumbs.gif

If you intend to keep this thread for finished pieces only, please let me know and I will happily move it in to Da Trophy Rack. yes.gif

Bought a number of them, they are just kids army toys with the load removed from the back and the windows cut out. It's a bit underscale for 40K tbh, I had intended to use them for an 'umie project but they looked a little small. They would be about right for a large 1/72 truck, or ideal for Grots or Ratlings to drive. Given most scenery is made undersized they work fine for that.

PS Work delayed on the next piece as I've been a bit ill, and each night after work I've just had to head to bed, but we have a long weekend coming up so I'm hopeful to get more stuff done.

Update delayed by illness, and it being 25C in my apartment this weekend - too hot to work! cryork.gif

Anyway, here's the start of my Wind Turbine..I really don't trust the ladder luckily the Mek only needs to risk it when the Grots can't fix the turbine!

and a few finished items from earlier:

Another truck, burned out a long time ago - must have the grass has grown back! winkingOrk.gif

Squig Pen (Doesn't look like it'll keep them in for long, cheap grot construction!)

You could add some plasticard plating to the squig pen. it would make it alot more orky smilingOrk.gif

Hm, I agree wtih this, throw some armore plates on tehat pen would make it look more orky, and more slaped together :3 dont put them on clean but at odd angles. And if your really abitious, you can add teef marks on some of it. winkingOrk.gif

I was wondering about adding something to the pen, but armour plates seems a waste of good 'ard stuff just to protect squigs. Maybe a sign with a squig glyph on?

Anyway here's the latest...sorry for the fuzzy pics, camera battery was on its last legs:

Some kind of storage or a ramp for Orkevil Kernivel you decide?

Wip on ork building...lots more to add here (other sides have windows)

Both! yes.gif

I would think for the squig pen a simple glyph would suffice. ideaork.gif Maybe it could be hanging over the gate?

You have some nice progress going here. Keep it up! thumbs.gif

I like the over the gate idea..I'll try something out and see what it looks like..thanks! smilingOrk.gif

Pretty pleased with myself as last weekend at the LHS (where I get a discount smilingOrk.gif) I found the GW resin Ork barriers..these are super little models!

I've also bought some model chains for my Dark panzee projects, but I'll have some over so I'll be adding a few to some of the buildings I'm making.

Start of a Grot 'pillbox' as the bits for it were just lying on the desk and I'm trying to get the desk tidy so I feel more like working.

Love the riot of colors on the barricades, Tainly. yes.gif I know I've frazzled my brain trying to do something similar with the Urban barricades I have (I really need to revisit those pieces).

Nice looking building, very orky so far. And the pillbox has promise. yes.gif

Base coating on the building has commenced, next step will be painting the metal, then lots of washes.

Not really part of the town, but not worth a thread of it's own..an objective/GM scrap marker

IMG_1342 by SirTainly, on Flickr

The Ork house is now 95% done (I'll be wrapping it up tonight and photographing it).

I've made a custom barrier from some bits I got in a bulk buy from Craigslist a few months back, plus made some Orky style "Rommel's Asparagus". WIP photos of them tonight too.

Well I felt like death again last night so the house is now 99% done..still some drybrushing on the base to do and a coat of my magic wash on the lookout tower - then it can be dullcoted when the weather is better.
