It's nice to know that an army with some competitiveness issues (Daemons) can be played in a fluffy manner (mono-Khornate) and still stand up to a brand new army list.

I'm sure you use this quote in a consoling manner after you have chased them off the board with your boyz in hot pursuit. Clearly they weren't running away, they were going to go get more bullets. -------------------- Warlord of Da Black and Blue Wreckin' Krew

Yeah... A player at my LGS forums was talking about bringing a Space Wolf horde army to a tournament. I could only chuckle at his mention of 65 Beakies.
My response: "65 is a horde to you? To me it's two troops and half an elite choice." -------------------- Nkelsch on the differences between disembarking from open-topped vehicles and closed vehicles.

Speaks volumes about our codex that Beakies consider 30 or so Beakies and a few tanks a Mech list... mine has 82 Orks and 15 vehicles.... -------------------- |

I think that a "horde" of space wolves would be pretty cool and effective.

So the chance for a single purgator doing nothing to a battlewagons is 0.9135. The probability for four doing nothing would be (0.9135)^4 = 0.6965. So the chance of four purgators standing still to actually destroy the battlewagon is 30,35%. ![]() Statistically, there is a 40% chance of achieving at least one destroyed/immobilized result with 4 psycannons standing still against BW front armor with a KFF around. Immob is arguably just as good as destroyed in anything other than a KP match. |

I think that a "horde" of space wolves would be pretty cool and effective. If he takes Fenrisian wolves as fast attack choices (I think that's where they are) he could pump up his numbers quickly. But, I suspect he's talking Grey Hunters. -------------------- Warlord of Da Black and Blue Wreckin' Krew

I just like armies where the troops are cool and effective. Lots of Grey Hunters would actually be a great army for a friendly game, and could even be fairly competitive. Space Wolves make basic beekee troops work, and I like them for that.

We'll have to get together for a game sometime. I've been playing with wolves since 1999 or so and have always fielded an army that is a majority of Grey Hunters. I only have two squads of bloodclaws painted (10 man and 8 man squad) vs 6 squads of Grey Hunters.
I don't own the rending calvary. I only have the LongFangs from the original 5 man box set (one of lascannon, plasma cannon, heavy bolter, and multi-melta....not a great box set), I haven't modeled or painted up a single terminator, and I've painted up exactly one rune priest (and he's on a bike for extra coolness factor). Otherwise, I've got nearly 4000 points of wolfiness. Fluff says that the majority of the troops are grey hunters, and that's what I've gone with. -------------------- Warlord of Da Black and Blue Wreckin' Krew

looted The phrase used for looting a quote for a signature line is generally sig'd or sigged. But on topic, 65 Beakies sounds relitively intimidating. Even with vanilla beakiea, that's 130 bs4 str4 ap5 hits, in rapid fire range. Not fun for ork armies. Basic beakies without much support don't scare me that much. But then my army isn't exactly 'normal' orks.

Immob is arguably just as good as destroyed in anything other than a KP match. Which is exactly what Dribble Joy and I calculated, you just factored in Immobilized. As a battlewagon with a big mek inside(the highest priority target) has a 75% chance(87.5% if you invest in an oiler) of repairing itself, immobilized results are not just as good as destroyed. Plus, 40% is not as hot for a squad costing about double the points of the battlewagon, that will die next turn due to assault from other wagons. |

Even if a wagon can repair it's immobilised result, that's still a turn without moving. Given the necessity of getting into combat as soon as possible (a likely tactic if using a wagon as a transport), that's a serious set-back, especially against GKs.

The phrase used for looting a quote for a signature line is generally sig'd or sigged. I'm aware of the convention. I just thought "looted" sounded greener.... Or maybe blooer (for da Deffskullz, of course).
