Three and a half years ago I started to build a Deathstrike Missile Launcher, purely as a scenario objective as the idea of using a Deathstrike in a game of 40k was just silly. I never thought at the time GW would actually do one for Apoc let alone normal 40k games.

The model got shelved for a bit due to time contraints, mainly I was having trouble doing the cone of the end of the missile, just couldn't get it right.

Anyway, not long after that I decided to loot it. It became a Deffstrike Rokkit Launcha. The launcher vehicle would get looted while the Orks would provide a rokkit for it of their own construction - basically a much bigger Grot Bomm. Not long after that GW did the Pulsa Rokkit rules for Apoc which was handy.

I did some work on it about a year ago but then it got shelved for a time again due to other projects. But after finishing the Choppa I decided to get it out and finish it off...

Amazing. You've put a lot of detail into it, it will make a great pulsa rokkit! Where are the tracks from? random model tank kit?

Super work Rictus, nice and tight design. Other than what Krooza suggested, I can't add much more. A little more work for making half of another rokkit and you could easily use this as a Pulsa Rokkit as well.

Cheers for the comments.

Kr00zA: Hmm, annoyingly I quite like the idea of adding a third vertical piece. Something to look at doing in the future (I need to work on something else for a bit now).

Sorien: The tracks are these, which I bought off ebay some time ago:

A few quick detail shots i missed earlier:

At the moment all of the crew and stowage are removable for ease of painting later. The rokkit and the launch ramp are both removable (and will remain so for ease of transport, storage and game play).

Cheers for the comments.

The current plan is to do a fuel trukk for the Deffstrike and possibly make a diorama for the whole thing, preparing for launch kind of set up. Rokkit being fueled, grots running about, Big Mek overseeing it all and proably an emplaced AA or Artillery position next to it.

That is for the future though, for now I am working on a Junka for someone (pics will appear in a new thread on here once it is finished, though check out my Project Log on Ammobunker if you want to see the build itself) and then probably a smaller Ork vehicle for myself, probably a Multiple Grot Bomm Launcha.

Now Da Choppa is finished I have moved onto getting the Deffstrike Rokkit Launcha painted.

I have decided to split it and do the Rokkit and the Launcha seperately, it seemed less daunting that way.

So far the base coats are laid down on the Rokkit and i have added a bit more colour and interest with some checks and glyphs on the underside. Also decided to do the cockpit area red for a bit more interest.

This is an AWSOME piece of work, very orky!
I can just imagine the mek getting it wrong and building it so that the entire tank lifts up, not just the rokkit.
The only thing I would say is that it might be an idea to set a colour scheme for all of your tanks, obviously not exactly the same same but similar enough so people know the are definately yours.

Still, awsome job

Cheers.

Each tank is going to have a different camo scheme on them, basically each Kommanda decides on a camo scheme for his own tank and goes with it.

The Deffstrike is a little different as while the Launcha will be in camo the rokkit has the yellow/black scheme above. For no other reason than I liked it...

See my thread on Da Choppa to see how the three tanks thus far built look together in difference camo schemes.

Cheers very much.

Work has progressed a bit but the rokkit is nearly finished. Grot pilot and his cockpit interior need some work and I will add oils to the rokkit exhaust and direction nozzles.

Looking at your build pictures I was worried it was looking too streamlined to be orky. This rocket looks incredible now! I especially like the scratching in your paint job, as if they were hitting the missile trying to weld/rivet the skin on.

Cheers very much.

Alas due to a number of reasons (aka 'excuses') i've not been able to do more on the Rokkit or its launcha. I am hoping to get some work done on it in a week or so.

I rather like your grot with the extra wide field of view scope thingy, that and the bloody amazing rocket!
