I figured I'd make a log where I can put pictures of all the stuff I finish for my Blood Axes. WIP stuff will, as always, appear in the Mek's Garage.
To kick things off, here's the completed mob of Trukk Boyz (minus the Trukk ![]() Da Kommissar ![]() ![]() Da Rokkit ![]() ![]() A Boy ![]() Also, here's some finished shots of the boss, Kommissar Killjoy ![]() ![]() Next up should be the first 5 Nobs, a Big Mek, the Red Gobbo, a Trukk, and some Skorcha Buggies -------------------- |

assuming that there will be a truck at some point, will it too be a old school trukk? or something newer? it might clash with the old school orks to have the newer orks in the trukk? just a thought anyway...
maybe its just the old style mixed with the newer klaw, but there is something really orkish about a power klaw that is nearly half the size of the nob using it... overkill = nice -------------------- build it, paint it, post it

A little overkill never hurt anybody -------------------- |

Good to see some of the old minis getting "re-fitted" and re-cycled in here.
I think half my Ork army is old school minis and they fit in fine. OK they're about half the size of modern Orks, but who says all Orks are the same size anyway! I love the themed army too, and the Kommissars are great! Keep 'em coming eh? HG |

Hey hey Waaaghers, it's an update! This time around: Nobs.
![]() Slugz (head conversion idea looted from CMON) ![]() ![]() Snipz ![]() ![]() Lurtz ![]() ![]() Masha ![]() Mad Dok Doolittle ![]() ![]() I'll be adding a Waaagh Banner Nob and a Skorcha Nob somewhere down the line, plus their Trukk. Hope you all like them, next up should be a Big Mek, though Koptas, the Red Gobbo, and more Boyz are always possible. *Edit: Oh yeah, I have some people to respond to. Let's see... Ironclaw: Thanks, I'm very happy with the Kommissars myself. I know the old models aren't everyone's up of tea, but hey, at least I'll wind up with a fairly distinct looking army. And it's hard to deny the humor in an army of bulldog-toad-hybrid-warriors. Kleiner and Harkon: Thanks, I'm hoping to keep churning these guys out for a while.* -------------------- |

Well, I guess Nobs just don't get no love in this neck of the woods
Big Mek Dud Bolt ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Boy do I hate how closeups show little mistakes, like that dot of red on his wrench and that hair on his shoulderpad But yeah, the KFF Big Mek is such an awesome model that I decided I didn't want to change much of anything. I did opt for a head swap, both to personalize the model a tiny bit, to get rid of its godawful existing head, and cause the Kommando Nob head is one of the best Ork heads out there. Besides that, he's all stock. Hope you guys like him! -------------------- |

I really like how you did the glare/reflections on the goggles and the ends of the KFF, along withe the slight variations in skin tone, like around the ears. Only suggestion would be to add some color to the glyph on the back pf the KFF. Excellent job

Really good stuff. I think the fact that you took your pictures outside with a snowy background gives it more of a Russian kind of feel.
Well done, comrade! -------------------- Cheers,

Cheerz ladz
- Beingmad: You know, that skull really could use some color. Do you think gold or red would be better? I'm leaning towards gold...if I do it at all. We'll see. I did kind of cop out with the KFF by just painting it all metal. - Gubnutz: Whaaaat?! A Goff complimenting a Blood Axe? That's when you know a compliment is meaningful (and smelly). And yeah, I thought two Klaws was pretty dead-killy myself. - Da Grimpond: I dunno if weedy is the right word, as it's a regular Choppa that's almost the size of the Boss! Still, I remember during the build process some other people wanted him to have a more ornate axe. I like the route I went with as it looks very practical and kind of echoes the simplicity of the old school Blood Axe glyph. - Orkyben: Thanks, glad you agree with my sentiments on the matter - Abhorsen: That's exactly what I was going for with the army...which is funny, as I didn't start playing until about 10 years after these models came out. I dunno, I just love that old school aesthetic. - Black Bird: - Bad Buddha: Thanks man, I'm always a huge fan of your work (those Tinboys and the AdMech army = -------------------- |

Hm, I think gold would be a good color, matching the end points of the KFF, but just to change up any potential monotony a different color might work really well

I haven't been acting too Orkily lately, so I figured I would post up pics of my Paint-a-Grot entry to keep this log alive and breathing. He came in 4th place, which, given the quality of the other entries, I'm very happy with.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Alright, now down to brass tacks. I've got two Rhinos and an old Armorcast Shadowsword that will become two Trukks and a Battlewagon, so all you conversion junkies might start to like me more -------------------- |

Great stuff here! The grot is great. The effort put into the correct pose and coat really paid off. He screams "Respect through Fear" the way any true commissar should. Nicely done.
I love the look you're getting by completely kitbashing characters. Zaggie's head on Badrukk's body simply screams Bloodaxe. I'd never have tried that, to be honest, and I'm really impressed with the result. The kommando nob head fits the mek well, as I've always thought meks would be the ones smoking big fat cigars on the battlefield, possibly lighting them with a welding torch. Also, the Tankbusta nob has never been my favorite model. As a tankbusta, I think it's a bit underwhelming. The only real standout being wearing the cloak of a humie tank commander over his shoulder. That being said, he makes an incredible base for a mad dok! I can't put my finger on exactly why or how, but it fits so well. This whole thread has been hugely inspiring, thank you much for sharing! |
