Hey guys, i got bored so thought i would make a fightabomma. I wanted it to look similar to the forge world one just with a few differences.

I started out by drawing a 1:1 scale plan of the side and top. I then took the measurements from that, and started work!

I began with the main frame of the bomma. I also did the front of the bomma giving it the 'air vents' or whatever they are?

i used the driver from a trukk kit for the pilot and i found a bouncy ball for the gun turret.

well that's it for now, I shall put up an update in a few days,

thanks

Looks good so far!

Will that bouncy ball take glue/paint? I always seem to get bamboozled when I try to use a weird part for a conversion and find it is terrible for modeling.

Just cosigning both the comment and concern/question.

If the rubber ball gives you difficulty, I'd like to suggest that you rough up the surface. Maybe the increased surface area would help the parts adhere.

And, good luck! I'll be watching your progress as I would eventually like to make one of these myself.

Very cool... I look forward to seeing how this shapes up. I've got a idea about converting a scale WWII model, but I'm afraid it'll be on my back burner for quite some time.

That looks awesome, and very faithful to the original design. I have built a similar turret on the top of a bomber I am putting together. I used the ball from the inside of a roll on deodorant. You need to rough it up, but it is nice and hard, and takes glue quite well (I plated mine in plasticard).

This looks like a great build.

I don't have any comment about your balls, but the "air vents" are part of the air intake. They would streamline and slow down the airflow into the front of the compressor part of a 'humie aircraft engine. That makes the air coming in less turbulent, and subsonic, both of which increase efficiency. They would probably be called "air slats". An air vent typically refers to an inlet tht allows in cooling air or an outlet that exhausts hot air. Usually for airflow circulation.

Nice work so far.

UPDATE
ok added some wings, a tail fin and the exhaust.

Underneath

and i have also done the cock pit adding some arms for the pilot. He is then found a few stikk bombz in his cabin!

I have also done the base which is an 8" diameter. I am then going to do a ork vs Gaurd diorama with some gaurdsmen and boyz. I made an explosion which is coming from the bomma. This is made from modeling flock with a wood/spruce frame.

I used a brass rod to attach the bomma to the base. the top of the rod screws into the bomba

and the bottom then fits into the aluminum rod which hot glueguned to the base. (notice the plastic glue lid thumbs.gif )

thanks, C&C welcome

That is amazing!!! Just wondering, have you got any pics of the wings in progress? And if ya don't mind, whats he clear stuff? Just drinks bottle?

That blast effect is especially great. I did a similar thing on my grots, but yours just takes it to a few levels further

The bombs from the Lancaster bomber from the magazine? laughingOrk.gif That bomma is seriously great, the best scratch one I've ever seen.

Nice, it seems to be filling out nicely now. I'm always a little skeptical at the starts of these sorts of projects, as they always seem a little too ambitious. "Oh I'm going to make a stompa/battlewagon/fightabomba and it twill be brillllliant!" and then five minutes in the towel is thrown in.

but enough about my failed projects, and back to the matter at hand. Its a killer rig there mate, and you seem to be heading in the right direction thumbs.gif

also, its nice to see the rokkits/bombs/ext, in bundles, all tied together into one big kabooma. I always get the feeling that the pilots would raid the armoury before they went on a raid, so they didn't run out of stuff to drop onto their targets biggrin2.gif yes.gif

so anyway, great build so far, keep it up, don't lose heart
cheers.gif
