the theme was "may the force field be with you." i am done and hope you enjoy it.

do you ever have one of those moments where something starts off and takes over every fiber of your body? well thats what happened with this piece. i have set my piece up to where it looks as if the big mek with the kustom force field has just turned it on and blown the building up. the commisar stands forward and awaits the moment to take the final shot. two stoic poses of two leaders staring at each other just before all hell breaks loose. the use of colors was intentional. i wanted the big mek to stand out with the greens, but keeping it subtle by darkening the inside walls more than the exterior. the lightest part on the floor is in the middle of the mek where the dust has begun to settle. the commisar has colors surrounding it that meld in with his colors as well. i also began to work out some new ideas with metals, and as you can see, i feel i have improved in leaps and bounds in my metals, especially the door to the building. please let me know what you think and if you like it.

oh and undave sucks. hehe

I like it. Both characters look confident yet reserved, as if they know they inevitable conclusion of the encounter (I assume both plan on coming out on top) yet are in no hurry to reach it. I was drawn to the pictures and assumed the building was being torn apart by the sudden activation of the Mek's field before reading the summary, so that effect was well done. thumbs.gif

The paint job is excellent, I love your naturalistic style and the shadows in the interior walls. All in all very well done.

Both figures are done very well but the setting is so complex they get lost in it.

i love the setting, i must admit though, when i first saw the pics before reading the blurb i assumed that the force field worked by attracting nearby objects and having them circle round the mek like a shield

I admire the setting and the paintjob, but the characters look as if they don't see each other at all.

well thanks to many people stating the same tihng. i have decided to place the commisar closer to the big mek and cut some of the piece down. i think this will bring it together a bit more. course since its not too big of a change i dont think ill repost it....but i have to admit i am happy with all the great comments and critique on this. i hope to get them entered into GD this year in chicago. so here's hoping. cheers.gif. thanks again all.

I think its cool that it looks like the commissar was just planning on executing the mek with a bolt round to the head, but then the mek turned on the forcefeild. while the walls look like they are being blown out, the floor looks like it's a 2nd floor that fell in. I would have also liked it if the commissar's coat was being blown away from the field.

It is a great idea, and you've pulled it off really well UD with the setting and your excellent painting. The only suggestion that I would dare make is perhaps some sort of scorch marks on the interior walls, they look almost too clean or plain at the moment, especially in contrast to all the amazing detail you have pulled out everything else in the diorama.

Good luck in the GD cheers.gif

Very nice work. The scenery is fantastic along with both characters.
