Well, i've not been on in a long while. my hobbying got left back on my list of priorities for a while, but i'm easing myself back in now. And what better way to do so than to build a fighta bomba!
So, after recieving a Supermarine(superork!) spitfire kit of my sister's boyfriend i decided i just had to orkify it. So i've set about building it and i have it all built, ork pilot in place, swivvle TL big shoota underneath and 4 forward facing big shootas on the wings. Now, i will show pictures at a later date (i'm currently not in the same house as the plane and wont be till tomorrow evening. The other reason for posting this (apart from wanting to show of my pretty plane) is the question of bombs. I was wondering about forge world bombs and their size. The plane isn't amazingly big (about 7 inches long?) and the plastic is quite thin, allot thinner than the normal GW kits. Has anyone bought these forge world ork bombs and if so, how big are they and how heavy are they? Other than that stand by for pictures! |

Sorry I can't answer the question about the bombs. (I think Forge world is way to overpriced) but..
It would have been better if you waited till you got home to start the new thread. (Good thing I got to you before Krooza) -------------------- GENERATION 3: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment

As an alternative, you can use gas cartridges to make large bombs. Even though I am not sure about the translation, the picture will speak for itself.

Or buy a weapons set for another airfix style plane as the bombs etc will be of a similar scale and construction (and probably cheaper). Plus you also usually get far more than you need
eg I've seen a guy use this set - http://www.moduni.de/product_info.php/products_id/1066001 - for the loadout on a a Thunderbolt -------------------- |

I saw those in a shop recently and thought they'd be great for that kind of thing. Do they come with gas in, or are they just empty containers? (the shop was Wilkinsons for those here who live in the UK, by the beer brewing section - no I never knew they had one either) -------------------- mo0g's Badmoons

If you consider getting rid of the gas, do it with caution. -------------------- Tof

Quite funny.. the things you can turn into bombs can actually blow up on you if you're not careful.

those are CO2 cartridges, and they won't blow up
Back in junior highschool (uh...12-13 years ago lol) we were using them to race wooden cars in shop class, they'd go about 20-30 feet... i ended up with one and strapped it to a spiderman toy figuring i could launch him 20-30 feet into the air. went about 4 before coming back down :-/ as for the model. It has possibility... needs a jet intake instead of the propeller, orkier wings and tail, and bigger exhaust tubes. As well as the usual armor plates and rivets |

Yeh, i'm thinking of finding some rokkits and attaching two to the tail, one each side. Still needs gubbinz, but that's the basic shape. I'm not too sure on the C02 cartridges, the model is only light and the plastic thing. I'm sketchy about resin, let alone metal. Hopefully i can find something that the plane can take the wieght of....

Rightyo, we have an update!
First we have an overhead shot with added armour plates on the wings and on the main body. Second i've chopped off the front and added a menacing front, you can see one of the armour plates easier. Thirdy is the Supa Rokkits. There are 2, one each side. Fourth the none finsihed jets at the back, they seem kind of small to me so i'm most likely going to put some Mek bits (wires and such) around them. Lastly we have a back shot, you can see the end of both jet engines here. As to the proppelers at the front, should i cut them off or leave them on aswell as jet engines at the back? For a bit of Orkyness. |

The CO2 cartridges are for pellet/BB guns. It's a lot more fun emptying them that way than using a nail. But be carefull, "You'll shoot your eye out, kid."
They are also quite heavy. I wouldn't suggest using them on a plastic plane. Especially if you plan on mounting it on anything higher than 4". -------------------- Yoo kin pikk yer Warboss an' yoo kin pikk yer noze. But, yoo kant pikk yer Warbossez noze.

Rightyo, a little while without an update, but one is here! I've finished the plane, i green stuffed the bombs in the end. One i really like (under right wing) the other not so much, but it will do (under left wing). Pics of the sprayed model!
First we have under the wings-sprayed and secondly an un-sprayed version to make it easier to see. Unfortunaly i couldn't get a very good picture of the engines (third pic) Fourth, the super rokkits and lastly the plane from the front. Now onto painting the beasty! |

Ooh! That is a good idea! Shame i'm already using it for the SAG Mek. Good idea anyway meshuggly.
On the subject of rivits, i never was very good at rivits, so i just sorta leave them out. *ducks as empty beer bottles are thrown* I know, i know. Rivits are sacred around here and all, but i don't want to ruin what i think is a nice model with lots of badly done rivits. I'll just have to try paint it extra nice Also, i'm going to need to base this beasty soon. Any ideas from you lot? So you know, the plastic is very thin, so drilling a hole in the bottom would mean the stick that would go in that hole would actually go inside the plane. I don't mind this as it could rest on the inside of the top of the plane, but i'm open to ideas for the base and what to use to hold it up. |

I think the shape is good and I'd leave the propeller, but you need to clad the whole thing in plastic sheet to disguise it and get rid of the round edges. And on the rivets, you'll never get better without practice
