Well I was looking at the stuff I have unfinished while i wait for my new Nobz to arrive. I found a Carnosaur figure, i'd bought ages ago to try and turn it into a mount for a Chaos Champion, but i never got round to doing anything with it and now that i've moved onto Orks. I decided i'd try and turn it into an Orky mount...
I've got a few ideas for him so far. The Ork rider will be tough to sit on him, as i've still not decided the best way to do that yet, although i think i'll be using a new Nob for the basis for the rider. I plan on arming him with a long chainsaw bladed weapon like a lance or pole arm. I may even stick a gun onto that, GK style. As for the beast, it needs a saddle and some bits of armour plating as well as a funky base. I was even contemplating replacing his front claws with PKs, but i think that might be taking it abit to far... First decision is to decide which jaw line to go for... ![]() ![]() Or ![]() ![]() I'll be adding plasticard coming from the "hinge" back out and then over his neck, behind his crest which may also get some armour plating, to attach it to the figure. I know it's an early stage in the process, but anybody have any ideas or preferences? -------------------- My first Ork Army: Reznik's Deff Kompany | Warboss on Carnosaur (WIP)
Other ideas for projects: Looted Valdor Tank Hunter, up to date Cyboar conversion, converted/scratchbuilt Deff Dred. |

You could try using one of the mounted bosses from the fantasy line as there are a few options.
They might be your best bet for the legs. I'm not sure how wide that thing is though. I recall other bosses mounted on the carnosaur but I could be wrong. do a search...might be able to glean some good ideas. Also, the first gob lends a little more of the ork mount feel while the second just looks choppier. It's a hard choice but I might go with #2. |

2nd jaw version. It looks like the first one will dig into his nose when he closes his mouth.
You can always make it count as a bike. Goodluck with this project. Voark. -------------------- "Citadel Finecast" - LOL.

The 2nd one is best as it makes it look more mechanical.
There have been Carnifexes as Warboss mounts but I am unsure about Carnasaurs . Good luck and I hope it works! -------------------- Beware the goff

I like the look of the first one, but the second one looks more practical (if you can say such things about an Ork creation) because the Carnosaur looks like it won't be able to close its mouth with the first jawplate without stabbing the end of his snout. I don't quite agree with your thought that replacing his two front arms with power klaws would be 'going too far'. Orks are all ABOUT going too far! I'd replace at least one arm with a klaw, at least. You know no self-respektin' warboss can't resist addin' some killy gubbinz to an already killy monster.

2nd jaw version. It looks like the first one will dig into his nose when he closes his mouth. This. Also, the first one makes it look too much like a Knarloc for my tastes. (Also, I put my Boss on a Carnosaur too. He looks good, when he hasn't fallen off of it.) -------------------- "Feer iz only justiss: quik, mean and unstopible; it is den somefing dat's gud. 2nd one. It gives it kind of a dragon look to it. Plus I like the way the horns look like teeth.

I'm going to have to weigh in and say the second one as well. It works better, IMHO...
Also, perhaps you could consider a 'standing mount' kind of option? Like, rather than having the boss astride the beasts back, perhaps he could be sort of balancing on the back whilst holding on to the reins...? (carnosaur surfing??) Not sure about how this might work with the actual back of the carnosaur, but if you are having trouble finding a pair of legs to go astride, it might be worht looking at other possibilities. As for the pk/front claws option, I think the beasties jaw and maybe a tail weapon would be sufficient. The boss should be the one to do the krumping, not his steed. Better to put the dakka on the carnosaur. -------------------- Ere we go, ere we go, ere we go, ere we go through the cosmos

I vote for the first one.
And if people can use boars for bikes I think a dinosaur would make a fine "counts as"! I am just waiting to see where the guns mount! Sprew Mek |

First jaw for me as well. I think the lines and flow of it works better with the model as a whole. But the second one is also good, so I don't really care which one you choose as I'm having the feeling that it'll look awesome either way.
Great idea by the way. Looking forward to seeing this progress. -------------------- Got Waaagh?

I think number 2 will fit a feral style abit better than number 1. I'll finish the rest of the head gear and see how it looks. As for the rider, the plastic Warboss has his legs moulded to the boar, does anybody know if Gorbad Ironclaw comes with his legs seperate to his boar? I've seen a few other Orks on Carnosaurs, it's popular as a mount for different armies as i think it's a very nice sculpt. So i'm not to keen on changing a massive amount on it. I'll spend this night shift looking for inspiration on the tubez, then hopefully have a rough idea of what i want him to look like. -------------------- My first Ork Army: Reznik's Deff Kompany | Warboss on Carnosaur (WIP)

I love the thought of a dinosaur ork army. Hell, I even started work on Ork bikers using the new DE cold ones. I gave up bc the general consensus was the Orks looked too big on the COs. I may try again using the old cow models.
![]() My biggest issue was trying to figureout where to mount the guns. In the end I gave the guns to the rider, but never really liked it. -------------------- QUOTE(Rombo @ Dec 21 2007, 03:51 PM) They ain't killed, they just get dragged screaming and kicking into the warp.
