Ok, in the new Codex under psychic powers, it says that the Zzap power "hits the unit" and does not actually say how many shots it takes. What I am wondering is does this mean that the entire unit is hit with this power or is it a single shot? The only description it gives is that it is a Melta shot, not Assault/Heavy/Ordnance 1, 2, 3, etc...
I could see it going as a Single Shot just because it is fairly powerful, but based on the wording it does make me think that it could be a unit killer too, with the exception of Cover. Any good ideas about what they were trying to say here? -------------------- QUOTE(Rombo @ Dec 21 2007, 03:51 PM) They ain't killed, they just get dragged screaming and kicking into the warp. If they are inmune to instant death that's something they have to discuss with the demons they find on the other side. :lol |

They are trying to say: The unit is hit by a melta. For Melta-Weapons, check p. 32 in the rulebook. "Hit by a melta" means, the unit takes one hit. You don't have to roll to hit (as it has been hit automatically, if in range), so you can continue with the roll to wound at once. After that allocate the wound and resolve the save.

Yep, as above.
Some Games Dev(eloper) Logic for you, when "the Unit is Hit" by a shooting attack (psychic or not) it simply means the weapon has hit the unit and applies the effects - it will be limited by the constraints of the weapon, so as a melta, it inflicts one attack using the profile of the weapon. The whole unit cannot be 'hit' in this way, because the attack would have to be specified as having that many shots to make it possible, or have specific mentioning in the rule that the 'whole unit' is hit, which it does not. You hit the unit, not individuals - this means that you are resolving the hit/s on the unit, allocating and rolling to wound - afterwards the single shot has the chance of removing one model - that is the scope of the shot. Regardless of how many models are in the unit, the unit is affected, but because of the nature of the attack, only one model will actually be "hit", but this is not usually determined by the shot (as the opponent normally chooses a 'casualty' of the shot), but it is the unit that is hit, and then one model in that unit will be removed as a consequence. Its less complicated than it sounds. -------------------- |

That one needs a "Dimmery". Don't roll to hit, just to wound and if applicable, to save. You get one hit on the unit just like if a shoota shoots two shots, and gets a hit.
