so is it a battle wagon or fortress? I think I've drifted into Battlefortress territory - but the is plenty of room on the back for boyz, weapons and turrets - there was always going to be more than just the cage shown on the inspiration picture QUOTE and whats that other large deadly looking behemoth? MKII Fellblade, beakies used to have Fellblades - Baneblades were in the same style as the older beaky vehicles - so this is an update based on the newer style of tank -------------------- |

Not done anything particularly interesting with this at the moment, mainly dull structural bits, so instead I'm on to ideas on where to go.
As shown I want to combine FW Battlefortress with The original Rescuers half track and a pair of twin booms for the Wrecka section so what do you think? ![]()

I don't think it's big enough.
This thing looks great! I thought it looked big and mean when it just had the trukk wheels on it, then you throw on the tracks and the monster trukk tires and... I can just picture a bunch of Baneblades lined up side by side, ready for this thing to come in and crush them. I'm not liking the turret. It looks like it was just ripped off of a Baneblade and stuck onto your wrecka. It looks out of place with the rest of the build. -------------------- Yoo kin pikk yer Warboss an' yoo kin pikk yer noze. But, yoo kant pikk yer Warbossez noze.

This rig RULES.
To throw in a less spam-y penny-worth, I'd suggest a more bull-barry bull-bar. Maybe have it much like what you sketched, but with a bar across the top perhaps 5 or 6 mm below the tips of the 'teef', and add mesh or grilles over the parts that cover the headlamps for that tractor-style lamp-guard look. Loops out the end (carrying on through the main body of the bull-bars to frame the headlamp guards) wouldn't go wrong either, especially if they were recessed behind the 'gob'. That'd make it look like a traditional bull-bar with Orky additions. And am I the only one who's seeing this thing end up zoggin' mucky? I'm not liking the turret. It looks like it was just ripped off of a Baneblade and stuck onto your wrecka. It looks out of place with the rest of the build. Irritatingly it worked far better in my head than in practice - back to the scratch turret then. Has to be relatively low profile or else the whole thing becomes too tall What program are you using for the drawings? Google Sketchup 7 - it's a free download. It's relatively basic, but very east to use - I admit to an Engineering background, but I've taught myself to use it in 2 weeks To throw in a less spam-y penny-worth, I'd suggest a more bull-barry bull-bar. Maybe have it much like what you sketched, but with a bar across the top perhaps 5 or 6 mm below the tips of the 'teef', and add mesh or grilles over the parts that cover the headlamps for that tractor-style lamp-guard look. That'd make it look like a traditional bull-bar with Orky additions. I agree about cages and mesh round the lights, not so much about them being part of the bull bars. The Bull bars it's based on do have some tube running between the teef which I'd forgotten about - so they may get attached -------------------- |

Google Sketchup works like a charm when modelling and planning stuff like vehicles!
Great idea, and this will definately be one interesting thread... I agree on the turret. Looks out of place... Add somethin' a bit more Orky! Cheers! -------------------- Jørgen Bogen!

What height are you looking to mount the bull-bar at?
If it's less than halfway down from front axle to wheel-rim (or level with the front axle) it might look good if the lamp-guards are included in the bull-bar, in a manner similar to your typical real-world 'bar, assuming that the tips of the bar's 'teef' come higher than the headlamps. If it's below the axle and/or the tips are lower than the lamps, have a look at after-market tractor spots; most of them have these wonderful built-onto-the-lamp lamp guards. Typically, it involves a frame a touch bigger than the headlamp, made out of tubular metal, either square or circular; the centre of the frame is filled with wire mesh and there's a flat strut comes from each side of the lamp to the frame of the guard; if that isn't clear enough, some of the examples of 'Ratbikes' on Wikipedia have good examples of this. Sorry about getting hung up on the headlights; it's a pet peeve of mine. As to the turret, I half-agree with Nozeminer and Bogen; the style you've got sketched (in the sketch with the bull-bars) doesn't seem to really fit. Orkifying the older brown version might be a better way to go, IMHO. Cheers, Cal. -------------------- Strictly raised in the old school of 40k - Rouge Trader Rules OK!

The teefy bars are set too far forward and too low to relate to the headlights so they'll stay the way they are
I going to look at the options for the lights, the Diamond T truck that the cab is based on has light guards much like you describe (http://www.advancedtautactica.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7604&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&sid=947f276910cdb907a33cd5548badd372), but I'm not sure if they'll end up obscuring the ligths too much Alternatively I could put a second, smaller, set of quite generic pickup truck like bull bars over the lights and radiator -------------------- |

Hi that is a great concept for a battle fortress the 3d sketch ups are really cool, nice work, and the model is coming along nicely. The plasticard on the kab is great and using those plasticard girders goes a long way towards making something look heavy.
Will you eventually put armour plates on the tyres? i think this would look good and make them extra crushy. looking forward to watching this monster grow great stuff, cheers -------------------- "I Luv da smell uv prome-ee-fee-um in da mornin'!"
