This thread is mainly dedicated for myself to paint my army until the local convention Dalcon starts in 30th September. I never played with a completly painted army before so that's why I really want this army to become finished in a short time. While still having a high requirement on painting and conversions in the army.

These models are allready created and pretty much ready to begin playing with. However they are fullfilling satisfactory standards IMO!
First out is my Doomsday pattern Battlewagon: Battlewagon w/ 3 TL-BS, 5 BoBS, Armor plates, Grot riggers @ 182 http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tlewagon_01.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tlewagon_02.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tlewagon_03.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tlewagon_04.jpg Off course, looted model design from Kronork. However the painting is very sloppy done. I practicly just painted it up as fast as I could as I wanted to complete it. However it is painted just like my other vehicles was with drybrushed Boltgun metal applied to it, and some white paintwork where I seemed fit. The Pink skinz don't really utilse paint that much and so their vehicles are bare metallic. I belive this model has a much bigger potential then it is actually showing. The model itself is very stunning, but the painting isn't. I don't really know how to create a good looking orky worn metal appearence. And I have also decided to make my Orkz more Orky. As it is now they are kinda ordered. I think I want to add some more sloppiness to the lines. I have planned some improvements on the model itself. Mainly replacing the ammo belts with free hanging belts. More cables from the coockpit and servos making it look more orky. I think I also need more Ork glyph markings and more rivets. I will also add a bunch of Grot riggers reparing it. The driver looks somewhat off from cutting of his legs and repositioning them, I need to fill the caviteas better with greenstuff then what it currently is. So how do one create an Orky metal look? You think it will look ok with the proposed upgrades to the model? Is there anything else I shall be doing with it? Next is my lovly Stormboyz: (7 Stormboyz incl. Nob w/ PK) @ 141 http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tormboyz_01.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tormboyz_02.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tormboyz_03.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tormboyz_04.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tormboyz_05.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...tormboyz_06.jpg the models are a big reason why I have the stormboyz in my list, many people argue that they are very inneficient in the size I have made them. But I usually don't loose them to weaponsfire and the Nob is very nice killing big things in the way. What I need to do these guys is filling some caviteas that they have due to positioning their bodies and legs in a way they wasn't intended to be glued together. I have previosly painted the orkz nails and teef just plain white. However that doesn't cut it any longer, I want them to be more dirty. adding brown to the base of the teeth and the yellowish white(Can't remember name) in the middle section and then having white tips only. You think that would make a good look? Again I have the problem with the metal. What shall I do to the metal? I also think I'm going to add some smoke and flames comming out of the rokkits to make them look more rokkit like! The ork skin on the battlefield makes my orkz quite dark. If it wasn't for their light pink being used for their cloth. The models would be way to dark. I think I want to enhance the skin painting to all my orkz by layering lighter and ligher skin tones. My last Warboss I created used this method and it looks just right out wonderfull on the table. Sadly I created it before it was stated that KMB on Mega armor makes it Assault 1. So I'll create another Warboss. That would be the 3rd in iteration all made because of changing Wargear. Any Comment is more then appreciated I realize this thread will not update for a few month waiting for me to come back to Sweden. But I felt a need to post it. Specially as I promised a fellow ork player some shots of my "Doktor strange love pattern Stormboyz" -------------------- |

I'm keen on the model, but not in this application. How on earth does it transport boyz?
That having been said, i make a dirty metal look by heavy drybrush of tin bitz over black undercoat. drybrush boltgun over that. If you want to do colors that are worn, paint them on before you do the tinbitz drybrush. -------------------- meh.

I don't really care how the orkz ride the creation of some madboy Mekz. They cling on to it or something. I just wanted a gruesome model with lots of firepower and this is what it came down to. I first intended to have a big area for them on the upmost top along with the driver. But that didn't happen... So well anything is fine. No one says anything about it anyway when we play.

Wow, nice modelin! One thing tho, that battlewagon looks more lika a dred or a gargant than a battlewagon. If that can carry 20 ragin' boyz, im the son of Gork.

Yeah, the 'Battlewagon' doesnt really look anything like a battlewagon.
There are no visible places where boyz can be transported Perhaps you could just VDR rules for it, and call it a stompa. |

The battlewagon is gargant(stompa) size for sure. However, no VDRing because that would need the opponents permission in order to field it. And we don't play with such things around here... If I build some space to be able to carry the boyz.
As I said noone had any trouble with the issue that the models doesn't seem to be able to carry boyz in it. And frankly I can't see why it would be an issue. the model is quite big as it is allready. And it's only carrying 9 boyz anyway. But if I model some additional space onto it. Would it be more acceptable? Suggestions anyone? I'm planning to build one more gargant(stompa) size battlewagon as well. I do want them both to be unique. Perhaps I should do the other one barrel like. What do you think of that? -------------------- |

For the battlewagon, I'd recommend adding handles and ladder rungs all over the shins of the thing. Then everyone just grabs a handle and tries not to fall off. Those that do just run along behind it until they manage to catch up. Or add a rope hanging out the back, and add a big metal box for it to drag along. Like a kid pulling a little red wagon.
At least it'll make sense for them to be entangled when it dies. "Waaagh! I'z stukk unda dis fing!" -------------------- "I was just going to look. With fire. And lightning. And reanimated chipmunks. And racoons. On fire."

Warboss thrugg... Good idea, I shall do just that. Adding handles and ropes to it will make it look more rough and orky as well. Just how it should be!
Yeah of course I was thinking of grimteef. Stupid me mixing ork from ork. But I guess it's easy done they all look the alike! -------------------- |

I entered a competition(A Tale of Several Orks) sometime ago. From now on it has officially started and I will give continous updates about the progress in this thread. In addition I modified the rule for the competition. "I'm to painting my normal armylist and not a combat patrol." It's going to be though but I shall try to do my best. Each unit painted will get a short piece of fluff and a name for further adding personality and distinctivness to my army.
This is the current state of my modelling abilities: 1 2 3 4 Notice all the awsome models in "3" and the kitted out workstation at "1". Anymore updates can't be expected until at least wednesday, sorry guys but that just is how it is at this moment. I'm kinda stuck in Japan until then and have no way painting anything. -------------------- |

Okay, first "real" update on this competition. I have been digging thru my orkz checking what I allready assembled, what need to be bought and so on. Luckily for me I had one a whole lot of Orkz allready assembled. Less lucky is that I need to reasemble a whole lot of them into 'Ardboyz from shoota boyz. DOH!
I also made a schedule(.xls) of what needs to be done everyday in order to finish until 30th september, so far no good as I didn't finish up everything from 17th august. So this is the one unit I'm working on right now: Flash gitz In progress. I have been trying out a new way of painting ork skin. it doesn't show up as good as I think it looks in real life. The way I do it now is paint with two premixed nuances of green from GWs range no wash or anything involved just paint. I tried this approach as I wanted lighter orkz and a faster way to paint. Hopefully in a few models when I mastered it. It will look better. -------------------- |

I painted up one unit of flashgitz, however when I looked at the pictures I noticed there is still a few minor details that needs to be painted. Mainly eyes and some nails. I'll do that as soon as possible but these pictures are good enough!

It will have to be a later time. -------------------- |

Sorry, I kind of broke the rules... I didn't take any WIP pictures of my 2nd unit of flashgitz, but as it looks pretty much the same as the first one. I figured they wouldn't be so close to each other that it wouldn't be sufficiently practical to make them two flashgitz units easily distinguishable to be an efficient use of the time.
Even though the 2nd unit of flashgitz isn't yet completed and according to my schedule they should be. I'm not all that worried yet. There is some parts of them that needs to be primed due to conversions happening after they was assembled and primed the first time. My goal for today is to assemble 16 'Ard boyz. So far two of them is fully assembled, and two of the Big shoota veilding 'Ard boyz are in progress of being assembled. http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day03-01.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day03-02.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day03-03.jpg Also today I got my shipment of bitz ordered from GW, 36 grotz handpicked so too not get any of the ones I like less. I also had one Slaver assembled prior to today and bought a pack of squigherdas. Planning to paint all my squigs in Pikachu colors. http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day03-04.jpg Comments would be greatly appreciated, this blog is getting a little bit dry with only me posting in it, don't you think? -------------------- |

Oooh, plastic 'ard boys... yummy. They're looking good so far, although the beaky chest plate doesn't seem to fit very well... perhaps remove some of the bits inside it and flatten it out a little? Or it may look good the other way up, since the waist would probably fit about the ork's neck quite well

Hmm.
I love that slaver. Abjectly love it. Mostly because he's got brass knuckles. Some of those 'ardboyz though... they look like they're wearing adult diapers for some odd reason. I'm not interely sure WHY that is, but that's the first thing that came to mind. -------------------- My warboss rides around on a giant farting boar with scrap metal tied on its side with twine, so what do I know?

Huge update! I haven't been updating this for a while so I felt entitled to make a huge update this time.
I assembled all 16 'Ard boyz. In the pictures above I have removed all shit inside the armor but it still looks very bulky, I guess that's kind of okay as I allready assembled and painted some it will have to do. I have some more WIP shots of the 'Ard boyz in different stages http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-01.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-02.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-06.jpg http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-07.jpg I also bought me a smaller present which arrived with the post. It will harbor my demolisher on top. I can't seem to get the grease of it though I washed it with soap and hot water as well as used a dishing brush on it. But it's still grease, is that okay? http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-05.jpg Buggies have been coming along fine even though they are being built very slowly. I had them prepainted and assembled to this stage when I first started: http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-03.jpg And now they look like this: http://www.areta.org/~lordmetroid/Pink%20s...mp/day04-04.jpg No Pictures yet of the second unit of flashgitz even though they are finished. But they look pretty much the same as the first unit of flashgitz! -------------------- |
